Today I got a phone call from a bloke with an Indian accent telling me I hadn't paid my taxes and that they'd be coming round soon to arrest me. When I tried to find out more about his supposed role at HMRC, he just hung up on me! Funny thing is, about 10 minutes earlier, a guy who sounded pretty much the same rang my landline asking about a car I’d listed on eBay. Bit suspicious if you ask me.

My elderly mother in law got a call from someone saying they were from the Inland Revenue. They told her they’d been trying to get hold of her for ages and told her to press 1, so she did. Today, as I was just dropping my mum off after her appointment at the hospital, her phone rang from this number. I picked it up and the caller wanted to speak with Mrs Walley, claiming to be from HMRC and talking about some sort of prosecution. I introduced myself as her daughter and mentioned that I work with Cheshire Police, and lo and behold, the line went dead. Curiosity got the better of me, so I rang the number back to clarify the conversation my mum had with them, but once again, the call ended abruptly. Absolutely a scam, just like loads of others have mentioned. You get this robotic voice claiming, "HMRC is suing you, press 1 to talk to your case manager" or something similar. I’ve blocked the number, but there's always another one popping up straight away. These calls are completely out of hand, and honestly, the phone providers should do way more to stop them. For me, it’s just a nuisance, but I worry about older or vulnerable people who might get really upset or tricked by this sort of thing.

HMRC Scam Call - The story unfolds...! I received a rather dodgy automated message claiming to be from HMRC, warning me about a court action being taken against me and prompting me to press 1 to connect with my so-called case officer. The call cut off abruptly after that. Considering I’ve only ever dealt with HMRC on straightforward tax issues, my instinct was to be sceptical. A quick search of the number revealed a lot of similar reports, confirming my suspicions that it was yet another scam. I've gone ahead and reported this incident to www.actionfraud.police.uk and would strongly urge anyone else who finds themselves on the receiving end of such calls to do the same.

I’ve just had a dodgy call from some bloke claiming to be Brian Newman from HMRC. He mentioned my last name and went on about me being arrested. Quite unnerving, to say the least! I've since put this number on my blocked list. What baffles me is how he managed to get hold of my name and phone details, considering I’m not in any public directory.

I received a rather disconcerting call earlier-an automated voice on the other end claiming that HMRC was about to launch legal proceedings against me. The robocall instructed me to press 1 for further information, but I didn’t take the bait. Instead, I ended the call and dialled 1471 to trace the number. Honestly, I dread to think what might have unfolded had I pressed that button! I suspect it’s all part of some dodgy scam, yet it does leave one feeling rather anxious, especially as a self-employed individual!

The phone rang and my missus picked up, she pressed 1 like they asked and then some bloke said we owed a grand in taxes and that the coppers were going to show up. I snatched the phone off her, asked for his name, and they just cut the call. I've let our phone company know, and they're sorting it out with the police now.

Upon doing so, I was connected to a woman with an Indian accent who ominously warned me that I was about to be arrested in thirty minutes due to a decade of unpaid taxes. I immediately sensed it was a fabrication and firmly told her to stop her deceitful antics and leave me alone. It’s quite vile and distressing to encounter such fraudulent tactics. I urge everyone to steer clear of these callers. IT IS A SCAM!

My mum got calls on both her mobile and her home phone from someone claiming to be from HMRC, saying she had a tax debt and needed to pop to MORRISONS to buy £500 worth of iTunes vouchers. Luckily, she didn’t fall for it. A few days later, the local police visited and told her it was definitely a scam - they said they’d pass on the details to help catch them. I’ve seen loads of clips about this on YouTube, apparently it began in the States.

Got a call from a machine claiming to be HMRC saying they were going to send me a court summons, asking me to press 1 to talk to a case adviser. I just ended the call and rang HMRC myself. They told me it was a scam and said to report it straight away to the Fraud team at www.actionfraud.police.uk. Definitely recommend anyone else who gets this to do the same.

I picked up a call that turned out to be a pre-recorded message claiming to be from HMRC, stating they were arranging a court summons. They asked me to press 1 to talk to a case advisor. I thought better of it and hung up, then got in touch with HMRC myself. They confirmed it was a scam! They recommended that I report it to their fraud department at www.actionfraud.police.uk. I’d suggest that everyone makes a report too, just to be safe.

Got a robo call about some supposed lawsuit against me. I hit '1' like they said and a person picked up, repeating the same thing. When I asked who it was for, they gave a name that wasn’t mine. The voice sounded foreign too, so I just ended the call.
