Sounds fishy to me. A woman called and already had my full name, address and phone number. She claimed she was from a different company but working under contract with BT to upgrade security on all UK landlines. She wanted me to verify my address, full name, and date of birth. My mother in law got a call from someone claiming to be from her phone company about her direct debit. They already had her name and wanted the last 4 digits of her account number for the payment. She got frustrated when she tried giving them her postcode instead and then they put her through to a “manager.” When the man asked for the last 4 digits of her bank account, she suddenly realised it was dodgy and ended the call. Both speakers had foreign accents. Seriously, don’t talk to these scammers.

Then she started asking if I was retired or a pensioner, which seemed odd to me. I didn’t want to say, but she kept pressing for an answer. When I finally asked who she was, she just hung up on me.
