Got a call, let it ring but as soon as my answerphone started it just cut off. Seriously, when will BT or Ofcom do something about these annoying calls? Some bloke who called himself "Chris" claimed he was from a Government Department offering advice on home insulation. The first thing he asked was if I owned the property. I told him I wasn’t interested in chatting and asked him to give me his phone number in Reading, where he said he was based, so I could ring him back. He hung up straight away. I quickly blocked the number - 02037693419 - which actually seems to be a London number. I reckon this call was likely some sort of scam or at least suspicious.

I got a call from someone named Ed claiming to be from the Preservation Advisory Line. He told me my loft and cavity wall insulation might be unsafe and said they'd do a free inspection. But when I asked him for details about my property or when the insulation was done, he just ended the call. Sounds dodgy to me. Looks like he’s been spotted with a different number up in Halifax too, if the reports are to be believed.

I had a rather curious conversation with a chap named "Chris" the other day-seemed to be some sort of local energy consultant, or something of the sort. He confirmed I was the rightful owner of my home and straightforwardly presumed that I’d taken part in the government’s loft insulation initiative over the last decade, which, truth be told, I have. Then he went on to state, “there’s really nothing for you to fret about. The fibreglass insulation you have...” and then, quite abruptly, got cut off on his end. I suspect he might have been angling to upsell me on some additional measures, had I admitted to not having insulation, or perhaps aiming to replace what I currently possess. In any case, I’m fairly certain my insulation is rock wool, not fibreglass, so I’m left wondering just how clued-up he actually is!

A chap named Chris rang me up, insisting I’d had some roof insulation fitted. Naturally, I asked him how on earth he obtained my number, seeing as I’m registered with the Telephone Preference Service. He mentioned some sort of database, but I told him that was nonsense. At that point, he just abruptly hung up.

I mentioned I thought it was odd they’d be visiting homes given all the coronavirus stuff going on, but he kept rambling on. Ended up just putting the phone down.
