I’ve been getting calls from a guy named Chris claiming to be from some energy firm, but before that, it was some rubbish about the government loft scheme. As soon as I started talking, he just hung up. This annoying scammer has been bugging me nonstop since lockdown started, and the irony is, I work in financial crime and scams for a living!

Had two calls from the same number. The first one was yesterday; some bloke called back and just cut off straight away. Tried ringing again today, but all I got was silence on the other end.

I just got a call but as soon as I picked up it stopped ringing. It showed up as an international number on my screen, at least that’s what it looked like. However, when I checked my call return using 1471, it gave me a different number 02037 693402 instead of the one it claimed to be from. Strange experience!

Got a call from someone named "chris," sounded like a robot or some automated voice. He said he was from energy company or something local like that. Definitely seemed dodgy and totally a scam.

A couple of times they’ve called me. I usually pick up just to mess about with them. One time they claimed to be loft insulation folks, next time it was BT on the line, and then this bloke Chris who said he was some sort of energy advisor. Quite the mix!

Got a call from 02037693402, some guy calling himself Chris claiming to be an energy officer around here. He said he wanted to survey my house and check the loft for energy saving stuff. Sounded like a dodgy recorded message to me. I just hung up and looked up the number, and turns out it’s flagged as risky. Avoid it!

There was a caller trying to persuade me to have insulation installed. They really wanted me to agree to the job.

Yep, it’s Chris again. You can tell it’s a pre-recorded message because even though it pauses like it’s waiting for a reply, it doesn’t actually listen to what you say at all.

Just like a few people mentioned here, I got a call from someone named Chris claiming to be from a dodgy energy company that’s not real. The voice sounds pretty convincing but it’s all automated. You have to respond with one of the few scripted replies, usually 'yes' or 'no', or else it just can’t handle it. Occasionally it’ll jump back to an earlier question or just hang up. It has to be a scam, though I never stuck around long enough to figure out exactly what they’re after.

Got another call today, but all I heard was quiet before they just ended it.

Got a call from these lot earlier today, cold caller trying the same old trick about damp and mould in your loft insulation. They say they’ll do a “free” inspection and make it sound like it’s got backing from the government. Best to steer clear and never hand over any personal details.
