Got a call from 02037458498 on 7 July 2018 around 3:28pm. They asked if I get the local free paper here in Coventry, which they already seemed to know. I said yes, we do get it, and then they thanked me and ended the call. Bit odd, really, since the number is from London and I'm not sure why they'd bother asking about a Coventry paper.

Had a ring earlier from some Indian bloke named Daniel, he was askin' my daughter if we got some yellow advertiser and freakin' knew my address as well - bit creepy. Used 1471 to check their number, called it back, and it was just some random number showing up. What a load of rubbish!

Seems a bit dodgy, doesn't it? They've been ringing me constantly, and finally today I had the opportunity to pose a few questions. A woman on the other end enquired if I’d gotten my “MidWeek Observer.” The chat went like this: I asked her, “Which company do you represent?” She replied, “I’m calling on behalf of the MidWeek Observer.” I pressed, “So, you’re employed by them then?” Her answer: “No, I’m just calling on behalf of MidWeek Observer.” I continued, “Alright, but which company is your employer?” Her response: “I’m calling on behalf of MidWeek Observer.” I said, “Yes, I understand that, but what company do you actually work for?” And all I got was, “Could you spell that, please?” Then she abruptly said, “Sorry to inconvenience you...” Make of it what you will.

I've been getting calls from this number incessantly throughout the day, at all sorts of odd hours. I've stopped picking up since I’ve grown quite familiar with it, but it feels like an unwelcome invasion and an absolute bother, despite my efforts to report it. With all the chatter about the new privacy legislation that just came into effect, I naively assumed these calls would taper off. Clearly, that's not the case at all. What a right pain!

Some bloke saying his name was Darren kept asking if I got the local paper. I just put the phone down. He rang back right away, so I hung up once more. Proper annoying!!!

I realised I got a call from this number at 20:42 last Tuesday (29/5). They didn't leave any message. When I rang back the following day, I was met with a recorded message saying "the number you have dialled is not recognised." Quite odd, really. As I'm ex-directory, I'm puzzled as to how they managed to get their hands on my number. Are they perhaps fishing for information about addresses or checking if someone's at home? In any case, I've now blocked the number altogether.

Got a call on 2/05/2018 and then again twice on 10/05/2018. A bloke said he was from some third party called Merit, talking about charity finances, trying to check if 9 people listed are still with the charity. He didn’t seem to get that the company name he had was totally wrong and we’d never dealt with those people. (A thick Indian lilt on the other end, words slurred, with no proper introduction.)

I just reported this number for being annoying, but forgot to warn others not to give out their address, phone or any personal details to someone you don’t know. Identity thieves use loads of different calls to get your info bit by bit. One call might not seem suspicious, but over time they collect things like your address, birthday and phone number. They probably got your card info already and just need this other stuff to create a fake ID.

This bloke with an American accent said his name was Daniel and went: “Sorry ma’am, I’m ringing to see if you got your news shopper delivered this week.” That’s our local paper and, honestly, I did notice it arrive this time after a long gap, so I remembered and said yes. Then he started reading out my address to "verify" and I just said yes without thinking. It’s weird cos there’s no way someone working on paper deliveries should have my home number.
