Received a call today at around 2.26 pm from someone saying he was Officer Steven White, supposedly from HM Revenue & Customs. He claimed there was some legal enforcement stuff against me about criminal charges and gave me a file number. Told me to ring back on 020 3745 7690. Like so many others have mentioned before me, these guys are total scammers banging on about legal trouble over stuff I didn’t even do! They keep ringing from loads of places - I’ve had calls from London, New Zealand, even Egypt. Best thing to do is just not pick up and block them straight away. Fingers crossed they move on to something less annoying soon.

Dodgy call, that one. They rang me up claiming there were illegal activities linked to my account and that I’d need legal help. However, they couldn’t provide a shred of information beyond the initial scare tactics and just asked me to verify details they'd obviously made up. The accents were distinctly Asian, and I could hear a racket of at least a few other conversations in what sounded like a cramped space around them. These people won’t stop ringing me, so I’ve started calling them back loads just to mess about. They say they’re from HMRC, but I’m pretty sure it’s just some dodgy call centre in Nigeria. I’ve probably wasted a few hours of their day by now. If more folks did the same and made it obvious they’re blagging, it’d slow them down and stop them bothering others as much.

This has scam written all over it! Someone mentioned the caller claimed to be “Jim Harra” - that’s the big boss at HMRC, isn't it? Hard to believe he’d be phoning random people! 😂 Best not to answer or engage with this number.
