Caller claimed he was setting up a smart meter installation, I was very clear I wasn’t interested at all. I’ve informed my energy provider to check if this was a scam or some sort of pressure tactic to force smart meters on me. Also told Utility Warehouse to see if someone’s pretending to be them. These smart meters end up costing folks more than £300 each year just to cover fitting fees and honestly don’t really benefit you. Feels like a massive rip-off by the government, who got tricked by the industry into pushing a pointless gadget that wastes energy to make.

Utility Warehouse sends out smart meter fitters. There's a government rule now saying all energy firms have to offer smart meters to their customers. You can refuse, but UW will just chuck your number back in the list to ring you again later. This is what was agreed on at the Green Summit in the UK. Just keep saying no if you don't think it'll cut down your energy use.

Got a call on my home phone from this number. A bloke asked for me by name and when I asked who was calling, he said his name was Stephen from Utility Warehouse. He claimed they wanted to give me a free upgrade to a Smart Meter. I was already talking on my mobile so told him to call back after Christmas. He just sighed and hung up! They rang both my mobile and landline. No one picked up on the landline, and when they called my mobile I told them they’d got the wrong number. They didn’t try to carry on the conversation after that.

I keep getting calls from this number for several days on end, then they go quiet for a bit before ringing again. It's some company, UW, trying to push a smart meter on me, which I've told them no to loads of times. They're really stubborn about it. I just don’t pick up anymore. Usually, if I don’t know the caller, I just let it ring out. If it was something important, they’d leave a voicemail surely. My phone’s tagged it as spam now anyway! Best to block or simply ignore.

Not sure really. From what others are saying in the comments, it sounds like this is Utility Warehouse ringing about smart meters. I've already told them a bunch of times I’m not interested. But this bloke left me a voicemail that was maybe over two minutes long, full of heavy breathing and bad language... If they keep this up, I’ll be making a complaint to UW and might even switch my provider. I don't want to deal with this kind of pestering.
