I picked up the phone only to hear a lady on the other end claiming to represent Southern Electric, urging me to consider signing up for a smart meter. She went on to say that a colleague of hers had recently taken a reading of my meter and suggested I get one of these devices installed. However, I find it rather odd, considering I've always managed my accounts online and no one has ever physically read my meter. She was quite cordial, especially after I mentioned my ongoing battle with cancer, and that I’d prefer to look into the smart meter option online instead.
