Received a call about an overdue amount of £291.58 supposedly for a PPI claim through some consumer claims company. Problem is, I never authorised them to handle anything for me! No way I’m calling that number back!

This number kept ringing me claiming to be Sheila’s Wheels. Usually, I wouldn’t bother but the call came just as I was dealing with a claim I thought was sorted. I needed to get to the bottom of it. I’ve tried calling them back three times but all I got was a recorded message asking me to leave my number and promising someone would call within 24 hours. I then rang Sheila’s Wheels directly using the number I already had, only to be told this other number is a scam. Now I’m worried I might have been charged £50 per minute for those calls. Can anyone shed some light on this?
