4 yearsI've received a call where the person was trying to gain access to my home computer by urging me to download some remote access programme.4 yearsSomebody called trying to trick me into downloading remote software so they could mess about on my home computer. Total scam, I was well suspicious.4 yearsI nearly fell for those pop-ups that insisted my computer had been compromised-so realistic, I almost bit! However, when I started to doubt his legitimacy by querying his connection to Microsoft, things took a turn. He then requested that I take a peek at my bank account, which struck me as odd. A quick search online uncovered the number he'd called from was part of a known scam. I wasted no time in ending the call!Microsoft4 yearsOut of nowhere a message popped up on my laptop saying someone was using my IP address and I was told not to turn off my computer and to call them straight away. When I called, the dial tone felt a bit off, and a foreign accent answered which made me hang up right away. When I got to around the fourth bit, a weird message popped up on my screen that was really tricky to close. On top of that, some audio started playing saying my computer was frozen and I had to call 'their' support line straight away, pretending to be Microsoft. The number they gave was 02037282940. They told me not to switch off or reboot my PC at all. Naturally, I ignored that and just restarted anyway. After I reopened my browser, everything seemed normal again.Microsoft4 yearsI’ve just received a warning popping up, claiming that it’s detected a trojan spyware threat.4 yearsI've got a warning for everyone: there's a fraudulent operation out there posing as Microsoft, and it just about robbed my folks of £30,000! It's sneaky, too-this isn't your run-of-the-mill virus situation. They're using DNS poisoning, which makes it more difficult to spot, and most antivirus programs won't flag it.
