Thousands of folks across the UK get bombarded with these dodgy texts and calls daily, and if more people start taking action, the police and government might actually do something about it. Don’t just assume someone else will deal with it - it doesn’t take long at all. I’ve bookmarked the ‘action fraud’ site and even dropped an email to my MP, got an… let’s say, unexpected reply. But it’s pointless if it’s only me making the effort.

Got a call from a London number, 020 3696 8431, on my phone and when I checked my messages there was dead silence - nothing said at all. Seems dodgy as real people usually speak if they leave a voicemail. Definitely looks like a scam to me.

So it was a Friday, about 5.20 in the afternoon when the phone buzzed. I answered but didn’t say a word, and when they kept silent as well, I just let the call ring out while I walked off. If they’re gonna mess about with my time, I’m happy to return the favour. After a couple of minutes, they gave up and ended the call. I’ve since blocked the number.
