Some bloke called me up claiming I’d won Tesco vouchers from a competition I supposedly entered. I do enter loads of contests but only for stuff I actually want, and I never shop at Tesco, so there’s no way I signed up for that. He then said I’d won 15 free tickets for this Friday’s Euro Millions out of thousands of people. I told him I wasn’t bothered but he just kept going on and ignored me. Total scam, no doubt about it - blocked straight away.

They claimed I’d get a refund if I didn’t win, but because it’s part of a syndicate, you're only likely to win tiny amounts, meaning you'll pretty much never see that money again.

This morning I got a call about a free Lenor sample I’d answered an ad for, but it turned out to be something else. The caller told me I’d apparently won 10 chances in a lottery draw next Friday, which sounded suspicious right away. They were actually trying to get me to join a lottery group that costs £39 a month so you get more tickets. I said no thanks straight away. The person on the phone was quite courteous and didn’t push me further, which I appreciated. Still, it feels a bit dodgy to me - like you'd never actually win anything. What bugs me is that the call came from somewhere linked to that free product promo, which had nothing to do with lotteries.
