Got a call from a London number claiming it was about a personal injury claim from an accident in the past 3 years. I asked which accident exactly, like I’ve had more than one or something? Then some bloke with a South African accent said my claim was valid for £4500 compensation. I asked how much they’d take from that and he said up to 30%. I was getting fed up, so I asked for their company name because I was ready to report them to the TPS for data protection issues. That’s when he got rude. Told him to never call again and shouted scam, scam, scam at him. Absolutely hopeless!

Turns out this number belongs to Webmarketing Inc a firm based in the States with massive call centres scattered across the US and UK. Just so you get the picture, they’ve got like 580 call centre jobs open in the UK alone right now. Loads of folks could apply if they fancied it but honestly the wages are awful, so I wouldn't bother ringing back.

Someone rang claiming to be from Road Aid. I’d already checked the number before and my phone flagged it as some sort of ambulance chaser. So when they called about a “minor accident” I’d supposedly had, I told them it wasn’t minor at all - in fact, I died in it! After that, they just hung up and haven’t bothered to call back... so far anyway!

Whether you choose to pick up or leave it ringing, I’d suggest giving them a ring back. It’s a good chance to ask to be taken off their dialling list. Seems like a proper way to opt out of their calls. Just leaves you wondering if that opt-out sticks forever or just for that particular campaign.
