Just got a weird call on my landline from someone claiming to be from HMRC, threatening legal trouble and demanding payment with vouchers. If you get a call like this, best thing to do is hang up straight away and report it to HMRC. They can help track down and shut those scammers off the phone system.

Got a recorded message from a woman who sounded Asian, saying I was being investigated by the tax office and to ring back immediately or bad things would happen. I’m guessing it’s a premium number where they make money every time someone calls back. Didn’t bother returning the call.

Got a really bad quality, crackly recorded voice claiming to be from the HMRC Fraud team, telling me I had to ring them back straight away. My phone’s security app flagged it as a mass-caller and advised blocking the number. That’s enough proof for me to just ignore it.

Got a call from a woman speaking with an Indian accent, claiming there was tax fraud with HMRC and that I'm being taken to court. It was pretty clear she was just parroting some script. I stuck around just to see what she'd say next, then lost interest and ended the call. This number, 020 3637 9236, should seriously be blocked by BT. They ought to find out where these calls are coming from and alert the right police somewhere in India, I’d guess.

Missed their call earlier, and they left a voicemail demanding I ring back straight away or else some "officers" will turn up at my work. This was from a number linked to a well-known emergency trauma unit! Absolutely appalling scammers. Next time that number pops up, I might just answer and give them some advice - on how to shove their scam right where it belongs.

Just like a few others have said, this call claimed to be from the HMRC income TAX department and it's definitely a scam. When I asked for info, they started throwing out random incorrect details and they spoke with a weird mix of Asian and American accent. It was really obvious it was dodgy. Never ever share your personal info with them - instead, let them talk first and you'll get what I mean. I've put them on my block list already.

Avoid this number, it's dodgy. I've gotten quite a few calls from them. One time there was Indian music playing in the back, another call was just a robot voice, and the most recent one sounded like a decent recorded message. Definitely looks like a scam to me.

Got a call from them once more today, but thanks to all the digging I did yesterday, I was onto their scam straight away. I questioned why they felt the need to cause stress and mess up people's lives like this. The bloke just chuckled. I mentioned I'd alerted the police and Action Fraud, and he claimed they don’t have proper jobs, so this is all they do. When I said I hoped they’d be found and put away, he bragged about being at it for 9 years and said they’d never be caught. Definitely a nasty bunch.

Got a call from someone claiming to be a senior officer at HMRC about owing £4998 in tax. They said they’d been trying to reach me loads of times and sent plenty of letters too. I told the bloke that since the call’s being recorded and might be used in court, he should post the paperwork via Royal Mail signed-for delivery so I could sign for it, giving him proof he actually sent something. After that, he just said fine, told me to get a solicitor, and then hung up on me.

I just got a call from a really polite woman from India, telling me it was urgent I get in touch with them to stop officers from showing up at my workplace. Honestly, if officers were truly on their way, I reckon I’d only find out when they were standing right in front of me! ###Heads up### When you register on websites, they sometimes ask for details that aren’t really needed. Unless phone verification is mandatory, I’d suggest using a fake number. That way, if they sell your number to some other company, you won’t have to deal with calls like this one.

Just got a call from a woman with a really soft voice saying she was from revenue and customs, warning me about some supposed lawsuit against me. Total nonsense! Revenue and customs don’t ring you up like that - they always send official letters, never calls, texts or emails. Don’t fall for these tricks! So glad I looked up the number on "Who-called[###][###]" before I even thought about sending money to these con artists. Absolute dirtbags. A while back I had a stressful experience with HMRC, so when I got the call I nearly panicked and almost handed over cash just to get them off my back. Luckily, I'm skint right now and I know my taxes are sorted out by an accountant, so I didn't fall for it. Still, these people are pretty believable and even threatened me with a warrant for arrest.

I got an absolutely horrible call where they accused me of money laundering and dodging tax, threatening to nick me for it. They said I could end up in jail for 3 years and owe a £35k fine. Something felt off right away but I was so anxious to figure out what was happening. These scammers are disgusting, and I’m handing all the info over to the police and the relevant authorities.
