Some bloke rang me saying he was from telephone preference service, knew my number, address and even about my letters. Gave me what looked like a made-up BT ID, but wouldn’t share a contact number so I could check if he was legit. When I asked for it, he just ended the call.

On 21st September 2020, I got a ring from this number. The person on the line claimed they were helping folks sort out debts caused by Covid-19. They didn’t know my name and when I asked them more about the debts, they said they needed me to share that info first. I quickly told them all my payments are current, I don’t owe anything, and then gave them a piece of my mind for sounding dodgy before blocking their number.

Got a call from some financial place, usual annoying spam to an ex-directory number. The woman on the line was foreign but spoke very clearly and even used first names like we knew each other. We’d already told them not to ring that number again. It baffles me why BT or the relevant watchdog aren’t sorting this out. If they ain’t helping, maybe they’re just as bad as the callers!

I got a call from 02036378939, some guy with an Asian accent claiming to be from Smart Consolidation saying I owed money! I made sure not to say yes when he asked about the debt. He gave a Birmingham location even though the number’s from London. When I refused to answer his questions, he just hung up with, “Well, have a bad day!” Seriously, why do they waste their time pestering people like this?

Got a call from a lady with a heavy foreign accent, and she asked straight away for me by my first name! She claimed it was Smart Consolidation offering to help with debt consolidation. When I asked who she was and for a callback number, she just said “I can’t give that” and hung up on me. Seems like a proper scam attempt to me.
