This number (and others like it) rings me loads throughout the day, always asking about the brand of my washing machine. When I ask them why they want that info, they just end the call straight away. So I started pretending I can’t remember the brand and that I’ve got a list of options, then telling them to go check themselves. Actually got one to keep chatting with me for about 5 minutes recently, which felt like a small victory!

A couple of days back, I got a call from the same number about a washing machine warranty, which I told them I didn't want. Then today, they rang again but claimed they weren’t pushing any warranty. Instead, they said they had to come and pick up my washing machine because it was being recalled. When I asked them the reason for the recall, the guy, who spoke English quite clearly, just dropped the call on me.

Somebody rang up saying they were offering to extend the warranty on my washing machine. When I mentioned our machine wasn't a Bosch, he just ended the call. Definitely seemed like a dodgy scam to me.

Dialling in from the subcontinent, eh? It seems that quite a few 020 3 numbers hail from that neck of the woods. So, if someone mentions their rather dodgy washing machine, I reckon you’d concur it’s a bit of a ‘façade’, especially when it starts misbehaving!
