I’m absolutely convinced these calls originate from abroad. There’s no other explanation - it’s clearly some sort of criminal scam. They try to trick ordinary folks into giving away personal info so they can use it to rip them off. When you question them, they refuse to confirm who they really are or where they’re calling from. One bloke with a thick South East Asian accent actually said his name was "Eric Thomas" - what a joke! Honestly, I’m fed up with these scammers constantly ringing me, thinking everyone in the UK is loaded. They couldn’t be more wrong!

Received yet another annoying call from a woman abroad. It’s pointless just leaving comments on these info boards. The real action happens when you report the details to the ICO website. They’re actually pushing the UK government to crack down and fine these companies. There’s talk of law changes coming this year. The more data they get, the better chance we’ve got at seeing some proper legislation, but it has to be a collective effort through one main platform. Venting here is fine but it won’t help in any way... Seriously, please report to ICO if you want to tackle nuisance calls. LET’S TRY TO STOP THIS FOR GOOD, instead of just moaning on a site that can’t do much about it....

I’m on the telephone preference list, yet got a call from 02036349972. The caller claimed it wasn’t a sales call, but then asked if my house had central heating. I told them they shouldn’t be ringing me and asked them not to call again before hanging up.

This number rings me quite often over quite some time now. I usually just listen out for the usual call centre sounds and most of the time dont bother answering. Its pretty irritating though when I’m busy or expecting a call from someone else. On the occasions I have let it ring through, the caller has had an accent from Eastern Europe and asks for me or my daughter. I never get involved in talking to them.

I get calls nearly every day from someone asking for a Kathleen Crawford. I've told them over and over for months that she doesn’t live here. Tried getting the police involved but they can’t do much. The caller’s either super rude or just hangs up without a word. My phone provider says I have to pay extra to block the number, which is frustrating. The other day, I blasted a vuvuzela right into the handset, hoping to scare them off. I even tried pretending to be a Chinese takeaway once, but apparently that didn't get the message across either!

Someone rang up asking for our name and seemed like they already had our address. I told her she’d got the wrong place, but she just ignored it and pretended not to understand. Then she asked who she was speaking to. When I asked who she was, she said she was with the London advisory service. I told her she’d made a mistake and to stop calling us again.

Picked up the phone and there was this person with an Asian accent. I asked who they were looking for and she said someone different from the first name she mentioned. I asked her again and then she just sighed real loud and ended the call!

Got a call from a woman speaking with an accent I couldn’t place, asking for some Margaret Tanner - no clue who that is! She said she wasn’t trying to sell anything but then asked if I had a central heating system. When I asked where she snagged my number from, she told me she was operating out of London. I then asked her to provide her company’s name and phone details just so I could check who she really was. She let out a heavy sigh and then just hung up on me. Really nasty people out there trying to take advantage of older folks or those who might be easily tricked.

Got a call from this number earlier, a woman who sounded like she had an American accent claiming she was from some London Advisory service. There was loads of noise in the background and the connection kept lagging loads during our brief chat. When I asked if she was calling from overseas, she just went quiet. Then she mentioned that Scottish Power would contact me again in a next few days and asked me to pick a password. I just ended the call there. In the past day, I've gotten a couple of calls. One was from a woman who wanted to speak to a particular person and asked if I could spare 8 minutes, saying she wasn't trying to sell anything. When I said I was busy, she just ended the call. Then today, when I picked up and gave my name, the caller immediately hung up once they realised I wasn't the person they wanted.

Terrible call, terrible attitude. The lady on the phone kept dodging what she was about by just saying she needed to speak to someone named, no matter how many times I asked. After the third time she wouldn’t tell me what the call was about, I just ended the call. If you’re going to ring us out of the blue, you better be ready to explain straight away why you’re calling.
