Does anyone know how to get these annoying calls to stop? It’s really distracting when I’m trying to get on with my job. I never share my number, so I’m totally baffled as to how they even got hold of it.

I got a call earlier from someone claiming to be from the RTA department, saying I’d been in a car crash. When I asked where they got my info from, they just ignored me and asked the same question again. I asked again who gave them my details, then they just cut the call off. Sounds like one of those recorded calls now that I think about it. I’ve blocked the number so I don’t get hassled again.

There’s this app I use called HulloMail which really helps manage unwanted calls. You can customise your voicemail for different people, which is brilliant. For those spam numbers, I’ve got it set so after one missed ring, it plays this weird message like “Hello? Hello? Yes, I hear you... Erm, leave a message please.” It kinda wastes their time without me lifting a finger. Pretty clever, right? Plus, you can record separate greetings for mates and family. When you’re travelling abroad and get these annoying calls, it doesn’t cost you since it works over Wi-Fi, not your mobile signal. The last one I got was from some “Accident Claim” service - not exactly a scam, just a right nuisance.

The moment I picked up, the caller just hung up straight away. It’s weird because only a few people have my number, like a handful of family and a mate. I did share it with the pet shop and maybe one other shop I can’t quite recall, but how do they even get hold of it? Is it just random chance? Got a ring from this number earlier, and the person claimed I’d been in a car crash. I asked her to tell me when exactly it happened. She kept saying, “Can you confirm you had an accident?” I kept pressing for a date, but it was just going round in circles. Eventually, she gave up and just ended the call! This "Hannah" called me today, or so she says. She wanted to check if I’d been in a car accident that wasn’t my fault recently. When I asked for a timeframe, she mentioned something like the past 2 or 3 years. I asked her where she got my number from, to which she replied “RTA” - Road Traffic Accident, seriously! I told her I hadn’t had any accident. Then she shifted and asked if someone else living at my address had been involved. I asked for the address she was talking about, but then her answers got really confusing. I reckon it’s an automated voice system pretending to be real, but it sounded convincing enough that I nearly got fooled. Caller ID showed Hannah, number 020 3634 9821.

This number popped up showing my husband's photo, making it look like he was ringing me, even though he was right there with me and not somewhere in London like the phone claimed. I ignored the call. Had a look here and found out it’s a phishing scam, so I’ve blocked it. Now I just need to figure out how to block my hubby while he’s sitting next to me, then I’ll be sorted!

Some woman called me on a Saturday, said her name was Hannah. She put me onto her manager. I’d just had a crash earlier in the week so assumed it was my insurance. Then it hit me, they never said which company they were from and I never gave my mobile details out. I told them off for ringing me on the weekend and told them to ring back on Monday. Supposedly, this is for Injury Compensation Lawyers. I called the Department of Transport's RTA section and they told me straight up, it's a SCAM. Then, when I tried to get in touch with whoever is in charge of their data and asked them to stop calling me, they just hung up on me. Definitely putting this number on my block list.

Really dodgy call from a firm named Injury Claim Law, rang me about an accident. I said it just happened like 30 minutes ago and was pretty serious. Then put onto some manager. I told him straight up there wasn’t any accident and asked them to remove my details from their list. Strange thing is, I couldn’t find any claims management firm by that name registered with the Ministry of Justice.

Just received a call on my UK number that I keep private, even though I’m abroad for work. A woman claimed to be from Claims Direct about a car crash! I haven’t had any accidents so I’m planning to track down their address and send them a bill for the expensive overseas call I had to make. Utter time wasters and really annoying. Why don’t BT or Trading Standards step up and deal with these muppets?

the lady on the line called hanna was just a bot, kept saying hello but no response, then got passed onto a bloke who gave an English name, Corrie Anderson, but his accent was proper thick Indian. I told him I was out for a walk and knocked into a donkey and wanted to make a claim, and he just went quiet then hung up on me. haha, gotta have a laugh with these daft scammers, fingers crossed they stop bothering you after that!

Loads of calls and texts keep coming from this number and others like it, all saying I've got money waiting for me from some accident claim. Problem is, I’ve never had an accident or made any such claim. I tried telling them that and asked to have my information taken off their list, but it’s no use. The calls and messages just keep rolling in. In the end, I had to block the numbers to get some peace.

Picked up the call and got that usual spiel from Hanna. I told them I’d been in a car smash but wasn’t sure if it was my fault since I was getting a handjob while driving, so couldn’t say for certain. Said I’d happily make a claim if they agreed to say it wasn’t on me and we’d just tweak the story a bit. Weirdly, the line just went dead. Guess even scammers have their limits. (Of course, I don’t actually drive, all made up)
