I got a call from a bloke claiming to be from the Meter Registry Office, saying something about the place I’m about to move into. He mentioned the address was deregistered and that I had to re-register as the new occupant. When I asked him to verify the address details, he couldn’t give me a straight answer. Things went downhill when I asked who exactly he worked for - he turned quite rude and started getting abusive. It’s a bit unsettling since he seemed to know quite a bit about my business and that I’m moving house. Feels like a scam to me, so watch out if this number rings you!

A woman rang up saying she was from something called Life Review and mentioned she worked with various life insurance firms to see if my coverage was up to date, especially with some law changes. I told her I’m well covered already and would prefer to verify things with my own provider, rather than get pushed into buying something I don’t need. I asked her to take my info off their list and not bother me again. I’ve gone ahead and blocked the number now.

I ended up chatting with a really friendly guy who claimed he was calling from Lifestyle, saying he needed to review my policy. When I told him I didn’t even know I had a policy with them, he insisted it was just an independent insurance check. I let him go on for a bit, but when he started asking why I took out life insurance, I thought enough was enough. I told him nicely I was going to hang up because this felt dodgy. I just got a call from these lot about life insurance. I told them nicely no thanks and asked where they got my number. She said it was from some marketing firm. She then tried to sell me again, but I told her to remove my details from their list. She kept pushing her sales chat, and I repeated that I wasn’t interested. Then she just went and hung up on me, like I was being a nuisance. Proper rude! I rang back but got an answerphone that was full of messages. No surprise there. I’ve now blocked the number on my phone.
