Got a call from someone claiming to be HMRC saying I had 5 charges against me and owed nearly £3000, my name was on some blacklist and my bank accounts were frozen. When I asked them to post a letter to my home and to put me through to a senior person, the voice suddenly switched to an American accent. He kept trying to convince me he was from HMRC but as soon as I asked for a letter and a call back so my accountant could talk to them, the call was instantly cut off.

Got a call earlier today from someone saying they were an HMRC investigator, sounded really rude and aggressive. They were threatening me with 5 years inside if I didn’t pay some supposed overdue tax. These scammers are ridiculous. I wonder how many folks actually get scared enough to hand over cash 😡

Someone rang me saying they were from Vodafone and mentioned mobilesown or mobilezone about setting up a deal for a p30 pro. But the call went weird real quick, started talking about special offers and rewards and trying to sign me up for loads of stuff that made no sense. Hard to follow what they were on about. Ended up giving them my info like a total muppet. Wish me luck, folks!

Got a call from this number yesterday about some phone deal, figured it was legit since ive been hunting for a new contract for ages and was puzzled how they knew. Ive applied lots of places and cant even recall all the companies, so when they rang i just went with it. Now im a bit iffy cause i havent got any confirmation email yet. Anyone else had this happen?

When I picked up, it was completely silent. Also, just to clear up something someone else said earlier, the 0203 numbers were first given out for computer stuff, VOIP, Skype and the like. It's not some big MI5 secret plot - sure, they may have used them but definitely not the whole batch. So yeah, not quite right there. I used to work in telecoms and computers, and I even had one from Sky back in the day.

for anyone curious about those 0203 numbers: they’re apparently linked to MI monitoring phones they think might be connected to terrorists, often phones that aren’t used much. just a heads up, you dont have to pick up, the ringing itself can give away your gps or cell tower location. this info comes from an ex MI5 officer who left because of the govt’s harsh policies. thought I’d share this anonymously so you’re aware.

I phoned them back and some Asian woman answered, asking if I was trying to reach the further education centre? Seems like they somehow got hold of my info from who knows where.

Got a call really early today from a lady with an Asian accent. She said my telly was still on (which it definitely wasn’t) and mentioned I was paying £7 a month for some maintenance plan I don’t even have. Then she tried to lower it to £5, but she wouldn’t believe me when I said I didn’t have one. I told her if I did, I wouldn’t even know who’s paying for it. I mentioned the call was being recorded (which it was) and that I’d be reporting it to TPS (also true), but she didn’t seem bothered at all. I just got tired of the chat and ended the call.

I received a rather curious call today from someone claiming to be from a TV insurance company. They insisted that my monthly payment of £7 was rather excessive and that they'd kindly lower it to £5. I had to inform them, however, that I’m not currently paying anything at all! Then, they had the audacity to ask for my bank details to process this supposed reduction. Absolutely not, mate! No chance of that happening!
