Got a call from a lady telling me that our coverage for various appliances was about to run out. Thing is, I don’t even have any insurance with "Appliance Direct".

Got a call around 5.45pm on 19-Feb-21 from a lady saying she was from Appliance Protect, suggesting we had insurance with them. She went on about some cover ending soon for several appliances like the fridge freezer, washing machine and cooker. I told her I didn’t know anything about Appliance Protect at all. Then she switched, saying it was about the manufacturers’ warranty instead. I pointed out we got all those appliances ages apart. When I asked where she was calling from, she just dropped the call. Sounded like a phishing attempt to me.

Someone called from this number claiming to be Anna, saying she worked for an insurance company. She offered to cover my kitchen appliances like the fridge, cooker, and washing machine for £12 a month.

I asked her to email me the company's name and address so I could check it out. She never sent anything but rang me back later today. When I asked again for written proof, she wouldn’t provide it, so I ended the call. If this was a proper insurance company, I’m sure they wouldn’t mind giving those details upfront.
