Lately Ive been bombarded with loads of calls from those call centres supposedly doing surveys, and some even say they're aiming to block nuisance calls. Turns out, theyre actually just gathering phone numbers to pass on to legit companies like banks or loan firms. The TPS scheme doesnt seem to do much, and once your number is out there, these calls just keep coming. I ended up buying one of those Nuisance Call Blocker phone setups from Amazon. Ive had it running for a few days and its really doing the trick! Totally recommend it to anyone fed up with these annoying calls.

This number keeps ringing my phone with stuff about hearing checks, accidents I’m not involved with, sales calls and those PPI things. I’ve signed up for the TPS and the calls have dropped a bit. These days I just let it go to voicemail if I don’t recognise the number. I’d have thought they’d give up if no one ever picks up?

Got a call today, they already had my name and wanted me to verify it. I asked who it was instead and some bloke with a northern accent said something like The Industrial Claims Service. Someone called asking for Mr or Mrs Ayling, and when I asked what the call was about, they unkindly said it was linked to me working with machinery. I told them I don’t work with any machines and never have, and that I didn’t appreciate being bothered at work. I also mentioned their info was wrong because my husband died seven years ago. Instead of apologising, they kept insisting they hadn’t asked for Mr Ayling at all and argued with me. I told them to listen to the recording themselves and then ended the call. Absolutely no courtesy or professionalism from them! The caller was something to do with industrial machinery.

Got a call from this number earlier. The person said they were from DWP, but when I asked what DWP meant, they claimed it was the Directorate of Work Performance! Sounded English, but as soon as I started asking more about it, they just cut the call. Bit fishy if you ask me.

The bloke spoke with a strong Northern twang, which honestly made him seem a bit rough around the edges (and I say that as someone from up North myself). He used my name, said his was Tom, and mentioned something about owing me money if I’d been in the industry longer than 5 years. I just told him to stop wasting my time and ended the call.

Got a call earlier today about some supposed “industrial injury” I had. That was odd since I can’t think of any injury from my working days, and I’m retired now anyway. I told the caller to skip the nonsense and get straight to the point. When I heard what they actually wanted, I just said I wasn’t interested and ended the call. Just like others have mentioned, these calls are really annoying. I keep getting calls on both my mobile and landline, and even though I asked them to take me off their list, they keep ringing. There’s this gadget you can get for about £50 that you attach to your phone which stores over 200 spam numbers. When someone from that list calls, the device stops the call from coming through. If you pick up, you can then choose to accept or add the number to the blocked list yourself. You do need caller ID service activated through your phone company (which, of course, costs extra). It can even catch calls from hidden numbers if you want to block those too.

This number keeps ringing me and as soon as I pick up, they just go quiet and hang up. I reckon it might be one of those dodgy scams where they try to get you to ring them back, probably from abroad, and then you get hit with massive charges. Not falling for it, definitely not calling back. I’ve blocked the number but I'm sure they'll use a different one next time. Does anyone know if there’s a proper way to put an end to these annoying calls?

Got a missed call from this number today but didn’t pick up since I’d left my phone at home. When I tried calling back, there seemed to be some kind of problem, and it told me to ring 118 520 instead - which costs £2.40 per minute from a landline. Definitely a dodgy scam - caller ID showed as Unknown.

Today this firm kept phoning me on my mobile at 1:10pm, 1:13pm, 1:26pm, 2:37pm, and then again at 5:35pm. Later, they rang my landline about 7:50 in the evening. I've told them several times to quit calling, but it just goes on. Why won't they listen?

This number is really annoying, so I decided to block it on my iPhone. I've also been getting loads of bothersome calls on my landline, that I've had to keep it unplugged for nearly 5 months now. I only plug it in when I actually wanna use it.

I've told them a bunch of times to take my name and number off their list, both for my landline and mobile, but I’m still getting calls. Just asked again today, 25/11/2014. We'll see if they actually stop now. I’ve got a feeling the calls won’t end anytime soon. Such a nuisance!

This number rang me twice earlier today. Both times they kept asking for my husband. The second time, after I said he wasn’t around, they started rambling on about some ‘industrial’ something or other. Honestly, I couldn’t really understand what they were on about, so I just ended the call. I’m at home and don’t have to answer the phone if I don’t want to. Usually, if something sounds off or weird, I just cut it short.

This number keeps ringing me up and telling me I've worked at some factory apparently, but I've never done any such thing. When I told them that, the person just hung up on me. I’m getting seriously annoyed because no matter how often I say it’s not true, they just won’t stop calling every single day. These calls are so irritating, someone really should put an end to this.

Got a call from this number claiming to be from a hearing clinic nearby. They said they were reaching out because I supposedly worked in a factory ages ago. Told them I'd never set foot in a factory before, and they just ended the call straight away. Proper rude! - couldn’t get their name either (guess they might really struggle hearing, lol!).

So today they've been ringing non-stop, like every few minutes, only to cut off as soon as I pick up. Definitely some kind of robo call, just hoping to catch someone to file a claim against or something. Proper leeches, honestly, they need to be wiped out. Feels good to get that off my chest! If you get their call, just have a bit of fun and act like you can't hear a thing. Haha!

Then they went on about me having worked in some kind of "industrial place" before, which is totally not true. I just played dumb like I couldn’t catch what she was saying and spent ages messing about with her!

Got a call from some cheeky bloke with a northern accent today, claiming i was involved in some work accident years ago. When i asked for details, he just cut me off. Proper impolite pest, honestly, find something better to do with your time, you lazy sod.

Pretty much what everyone else has said here. The bloke on the phone, sounded like he was from up North, reckoned I worked in engineering according to their records (which is odd as I was in commercial air crew before retiring, so no clue where that came from). He said he had an appointment that might interest me. I told him straight up I wasn’t interested and asked nicely for him to remove my details from their system before I ended the call. Just a load of Merchant Bank types - honestly, I hope he comes across this and feels a bit embarrassed about it!

Just got a call from this number. Only picked up because I was waitin on a roofer to ring me back. The bloke said, "Good mornin, Mrs ___, You've worked in a factory at some point in your life." I told him I’d never been a factory worker, I’m a nurse. He kept going on like I’d definitely worked in a factory at some time. I told him he was talking rubbish and then he muttered something to someone else and hung up. Had a look back through my calls and noticed this number’s been ringin me off and on for weeks. I’ve blocked it now.

Got a silent call again from this number today, not the very first occasion either. Before, the calls have followed the same script that others have mentioned. The number rings straight through to a direct line at a big company's switchboard. Since it’s an accountancy practice where the noisiest thing is usually just the coffee pot, it’s obvious their choice of target is pretty poor! My advice - pretend you can’t hear anything. They get frustrated quickly and usually hang up.

Had a couple more annoying calls asking if I’d ever worked in industry. I’d already blocked the last number they called from. This time I warned them to remove me from their list or I’d charge for my time. They just hung up on me. Easy enough to block the number again on my iPhone. Caller ID showed some unknown industrial injury firm.

I’ve got this app on my phone that blocks calls from unknown numbers and anyone not saved in my contacts, so I never actually answer those. But this number showed up, and I’m pretty sure it’s that same bloke from Liverpool trying to get me to claim for some injury accident - even though, thankfully, I’ve never been in one!

I’ve had calls from them claiming I worked in some industry, which I never did. Then they accused me of lying, saying I'd been messing about all my life, had a proper laugh and hung up. I told my phone provider about it and the calls paused for a bit, but now they’re back, just from a new number. Honestly, these lot should be shut down.

Got a call from 02035190692. A bloke with a northern accent said, "Hello is that Mr R_______?" I replied, "It’s a Mr _____ here, we’re not the same person." Then he just hung up! Proper annoying!

Got a call out the blue from someone all pushy asking about some industrial stuff. When I asked who was on the line, they just hung up on me. Tried ringing the other number they gave but it ended up charging me £2.50! Seems a bit fishy if you ask me. (Watch out for this one!)

Got loads of annoying calls from some pushy seller. They kept going on about disability payments or something if you’ve been in the field. Wouldn’t accept a straight ‘no’ from me. If they don’t stop, definitely report them to the cops. Proper dodgy lot! Caller was from something called National Advice Clinic.

I keep getting calls from these lot even though i've told them loads of times i’ve never had a job in Industry. They usually start ringing about 2pm and today the last one was at 4.28pm - it's driving me mad because i have to keep my phone on all day since my husband had a heart attack recently, so i’m always worried i might miss an important call from him. I recently blocked a similar number for the same reason, guess i’ll have to do it again with this one as they just ignore me when i say i’ve never worked in Industry. Between PPI claims, Solar panels, Gas boilers, switching electricity suppliers... the list seems endless and the calls keep coming more often. Honestly, someone needs to do something and shut these parasitic companies down before more people get caught thinking they’re getting a freebie (spoiler: you don’t, only the company ringing you does!) - caller: 02035190692

Got a call on this number today. The person said I needed to go to some kind of advisory clinic in Portsmouth because I used to work in a factory. I found it funny and told them they had the wrong person. But the caller kept saying I was a factory worker, so I told them what I actually do for a living. Only then did it hit me I might’ve shared too much personal stuff. I’ve made a report with the police now.
