In this call centre, we handle calls on behalf of various clients across different sectors. Our main goal is to sell the service that has been assigned to us for the day, and it may differ from one day to another. Unfortunately, simply being registered with TPS (Telephone Preference Service) will not prevent calls if the caller is not also registered and using the service. Similarly, being ex-directory doesn't offer protection as we utilize random number dialling. Each operator is equipped with a device that can dial multiple numbers. When you pick up a call, if the operator is available, they will speak with you. However, if they are already engaged in conversation with someone else when you answer, your call will be disconnected, but your number will be noted as active or live. I received two separate calls earlier this evening. During the second call, I decided to answer and inquire about the nature of the call. The individual on the other end claimed to be from NAC National Advice Service, which is supposedly situated in my town. They informed me that they were representing an industry related to tooling, metalwork, and grinding. However, I knew right away that this information was completely false. They even mentioned that OH (presumably referring to Occupational Health) had involvement in this matter, but both statements were clearly inaccurate. I made sure to mention that I was registered with TPS (Telephone Preference Service), which aims to protect individuals from receiving unwanted telemarketing calls. In response, the person abruptly ended the call by hanging up on me. The lack of professionalism displayed certainly did not impress me.
