I received a phone call from someone purporting to be from BT, alleging there was some odd goings-on with my computer. It felt quite dodgy, especially since the chap had a pronounced Asian accent.

I got a call from a man who said he was from BT, saying there was some strange stuff happening on my computer. Thing is, I don't own a computer myself, though my husband has one that’s been off and unused for over two years. He kept insisting I turn it on, but I told him I wasn’t buying it and thought it was some kind of scam. He denied it, but still kept pushing for me to switch it on. I told him straight up that it was a scam and just hung up.
