Got a call from a bloke claiming to be James, said he was from some Care Home Trust in East London. He had this rehearsed spiel about their solicitor wanting to ring me to offer help with stopping care fees eating my house. Bit weird since he obviously has no clue if I even have a house or how old I am. As soon as he began with his questions, I just ended the call.

Called by a bloke claiming he was from Care Costs Helpline. He started going on about some government scheme I supposedly heard about on telly, where they’re pushing folks to sell their houses to cover care fees. Total rubbish, just the usual scam spiel.

I got a call from what sounded like a lady, but it was actually some clever robot using pre-recorded responses to try and get me to agree to a “free” pendant alarm (which it most definitely isn’t free). If you really need one, I’d suggest ringing your council instead - they offer proper, approved alarms for less and without any dodgy contracts. Don’t waste your time on this scam, just put the phone down straight away!

On 8th August 2020, I missed a call and tried ringing back straight away on a 141 number, thinking it was a mate from London. But when I called, there was no answer and a weird busy tone came through. Felt like it was probably some spam or dodgy call.

Had a similar run in with those medical alert pendant calls. At first I figured it was someone legit on the line, but when I asked stuff she just dodged the questions. Eventually I worked out it was some pre-recorded voice reading out scripted bits, especially when the replies didn’t fit. Honestly, it felt pretty fake. If these scammers want to trick us, they definitely need to up their game!

I received a call from this number, touting an unbelievably bargain O2 deal just as my contract was about to expire. Once I mentioned I don't even use O2, he seemed rather disinterested. Curious about where he was ringing from, I inquired if he was based in London. To my surprise, he claimed to be calling from the capital of England - Cardiff! 😂 Then, just like that, he hung up.

Today (04/08/22) at about 9:26am, my landline was rung by 02035140048. A woman calling herself "Jane" claimed to be from "The Medical Alert Centre" and said I was eligible for a pendant. Initially, I thought it was an actual person, but none of my questions were properly answered - seemed more like a "chatbox", as someone else mentioned. I’m certain you’d need to go through your GP to get one of these, so likely the Caller ID was faked. I just left the phone alone and let it run its course.
