Got a call earlier today that felt a bit fishy, so I threw a couple of questions their way and then just ended the call. Later I looked up the number and ended up here on this site.

Got a robocall not long ago from 02034882607, same as all the others. They said they were HMRC and that I owed unpaid tax, threatening legal action if I didn't sort it out. Then they asked me to press one to talk to my 'claims officer.' If you ever get a call like this, whatever you do, dont press one - just hang up straight away. It's crazy these scammers get away with it, they really need to be stopped properly.

Got a robo call claiming to be from HMRC, threatening legal action against me. They never said my actual name, just kept saying "you". I only let the message play for a few seconds before hanging up straight away.

Got a robo call with the same message. It’s really scary how these nasty scammers can use a UK number and trick vulnerable folks. Why can’t the authorities track them down and take legal action for trying to commit fraud? It’s quite frustrating.

Got a call just now, said it was from HMRC and that I was about to be prosecuted. They told me to press 1 to talk to my case officer - I just hung up straight away. Same story as others have said. About 15 minutes back.

Has anyone else had calls from 01424 842909 and thought it was connected to the HMRC tax scam? My mum got tricked into losing £2000 recently, and just earlier today she got a call from this number. I answered it, and when I asked who was calling after they requested my mum by her full name, they just ended the call. The caller sounded Indian, but I could barely catch what they were saying. Watch out for this number too, it might be part of the same scam...

Got a call claiming to be from customs or tax again, which was dodgy in itself, but the weird bit was the last four numbers matched my birthday and month. They told me to press 1, but half an hour earlier I’d had a call from the same number that just ended with a quick “goodbye.” Looks like they were trying to see if I was home or something!

My Mother in Law, who recently lost her husband, got a phone call from this number saying she owed nearly £98,000 in taxes. They threatened to send the police to arrest her within half an hour if she didn’t transfer £970 immediately. She was really upset and frightened, but luckily she didn’t hand over any money or personal info. Still, it left her quite rattled.

Got a phone call like this and it’s definitely a scam. There’s no way HMRC would get in touch about something like this by phone. Whatever you do, don’t hit 1 on your keypad.

Got a robocall claiming to be from HMRC, threatening legal action against me. Honestly, I just laughed it off. Watch out folks, they tried to get me to press 1 to connect with some "case advisor." I didn’t bite and just ended the call.

This number rang my husband on our home phone claiming to be from H M R C. They refused to answer any of his questions and said there was a warrant for his arrest over unpaid tax from 1998. They even asked for his national insurance number. My husband's disabled and hasn’t worked since the 80s, plus he’s old enough to be retired now. He’s not daft and told them to get lost. These calls can be really upsetting for folks and something should be done to put an end to them...

We got the identical voicemail on our answer machine the other day, and when I looked it up on unknownphone.com, it was a relief to find others had it too. It feels like a nasty scam since stuff like this really unsettles people. They never mentioned who they were wanting to reach, which made us immediately suspicious.

I got one of those calls too, some dodgy person pretending to be HMRC, asking me to hit 1 - knew straight away it'd be some expensive line. These scumbags really should be found and stopped.

I got a robo call saying I’m being taken to court by hmrc and to press 1 to chat with someone. I just ended the call straight away. I’m disabled and haven’t got a job, so no idea why they’d call me.

Got a voicemail from someone pretending to be HMRC saying they’ve started a case against me, and to press 1 to talk to the person handling it. Sure enough, if you press it, you might end up on a premium rate line. Absolute scam, watch out!

This number claims it's from H.M.R.C., saying they're about to take legal action against you. I double-checked with H.M.R.C. and it turns out to be a total scam. It can be really upsetting, especially for older people. Would be great if a warning could be put out to help others avoid this.

Got a recorded voice saying HMRC had taken me to court, then the call just dropped. I’m pretty sure HMRC don’t ring people up like that, so it’s gotta be a scam.
