Sounds like Great Ormond Street hospital, by the look of the other reviews. I used to give every month but stopped recently, so I suppose they’re just trying to get in touch. I think this was Great Ormond Street hospital ringing me. I was donating each month but they kept ringing asking for more money. I told them I wasn’t interested. Then they called again the next week and I said I was busy at work and couldn’t talk. The bloke kept pushing to speak, saying it’d be quick. I just hung up on him. I blocked the number and stopped my donation. Now they’re calling me all hours, day and night. It’s a shame as they clearly need the funds, but if these calls are really from the charity, their approach is totally wrong.

They rang me around 8:45 in the evening. I was in the middle of my tea. The bloke, whose name I can’t recall, claimed to be from GOSH and mentioned it’s nearly Christmas, asking if I’d be willing to donate to a charity. I told him what time it was and that I was eating. He said he’d phone again the next day, but I’ve been ignoring their calls ever since. The lengths these scam artists go to is unreal.

GOSH is a good cause here in the UK, BUT you must never agree to anything from a cold call. Loads of those calls, though not all, come from scammers abroad. If you really want to support a charity, look them up online and donate directly through their official website. Also, if you pay tax, set up regular bank payments with gift aid and make sure you include it in your tax return. This helps the charity loads and you can claim back tax if you pay 20% or more on your earnings.

020 numbers often seem to be dodgy, just so you know. I've never come across a 020 number that wasn’t a scam. If someone rings you asking for a donation, say you'll give when you're ready but want to double-check everything first. I've had a few calls from 020 numbers that turned out to be scams too. Honestly, these 020 calls are really dodgy. Just keep in mind, they're mostly after your cash and will pretend to be mates to get it.

The gentleman on the other end came across as quite convincing, claiming he was ringing from Great Ormond Street Hospital. We had a lengthy conversation lasting more than ten minutes, but abruptly, the call cut off.
