I've been receiving numerous calls from an unknown number. It's becoming quite bothersome.

I received a call from someone claiming to represent Cancer Research UK, expressing gratitude for my supposed support over the past year - support I've never provided, mind you. I've only ever chipped in for Race for Life when colleagues have sought sponsorships. It's baffling how they got hold of my number. These calls have been incessant; I either reject them or let them go to voicemail. I reached out to Tesco Mobile, but they can only block premium rate numbers, and this isn't one of those. They suggested that I report this to the authorities. The police can be contacted at Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or via their website at www.actionfraud.police.uk. It's quite clear that legitimate charities don’t engage in such dubious practices.

A call purporting to be from 'Cancer Research' came through to me recently. They insisted that I had either made a donation or volunteered some sort of service in the past year or so - which I certainly haven’t. They were quite keen on persuading me to contribute over the phone, but I firmly declined to share my card details. Seriously, never hand out your credit card information over the phone. It’s a risky business and could well be a scam.

They mentioned that the conversation was under surveillance, but I hung up before they could delve into their pitch. It certainly gave off a dodgy vibe.
