Somebody phoned me pretending to be from HMRC saying they were taking me to court. I could hear a few other voices in the background all talking the same way with an Indian accent. When I asked where they’d phoned from, the bloke said London and gave his name as Jacob Smith. I wondered why I could hear others chatting behind him and he just replied with “are you having a laugh?” I instantly knew it was a scam and told him I used to work in government so that attitude wouldn’t fly with me. He ended the call straight away.

I’ve been inundated with calls on my mobile at all sorts of odd hours, both day and night. After blocking the number, they began pestering my home phone instead. Had an older bloke in the shop the other day wanting to buy amazon vouchers and he wouldn’t say what for. I've received three calls from this number. Each time, it’s a recorded message claiming to be from HMRC, threatening that there’s a warrant for my arrest and prompting me to press 1. I’m certain it’s a scam; as a widowed pensioner, I have no business with HMRC whatsoever. Naturally, I didn’t press any buttons and just ended the call. However, I can’t help but think how distressing such a call could be for someone older, like my 92-year-old neighbour, who might be genuinely frightened by it.

Yeah, it’s a total con pretending to be HMRC. Just hang up straight away and under no circumstances, press 1 to chat to the scammer. Better yet, call HMRC yourself and let them know about this dodgy number like I did.

Got a recorded call from HMRC saying they're gonna take me to court. They told me to press 1 to talk to someone about my case. Would be quite scary for anyone not used to scam calls like this.

Got a call claiming to be from HMRC, saying I'd be arrested and charged if I didn't "press 1" to chat with a caseworker. Total scam, obviously. Do not press that 1!

Received a call on my landline from this number claiming to be from HMRC, saying I was being taken to court. When a voice appeared on the call, they actually asked me who I was!!! (I didn’t share any info) I then flipped it and asked them to tell me who I was since they called me. Surprise, surprise, they got it completely wrong!! They quickly ended the call after that.

Got a robo call from this number saying it’s HMRC and that I’m wanted - told me to ring them straightaway. This is the fourth time I’ve been pesterd by these lot.
