This number showed up as suspicious on my phone. The caller was trying to pitch a better broadband offer, which made me instantly wary. It wasn’t until after a few minutes that they finally mentioned it was for Shell Energy. I decided to call Shell myself to check if it was a scam. They confirmed the call was from one of their teams and promised to sort things so it wouldn’t be flagged as spam anymore. They also mentioned their callers will now clearly identify themselves straight away. Honestly, it really seemed dodgy at first, but it wasn’t a scam after all. They did suggest I contact Shell directly if I ever wanted to sign up for one of their plans. They also thanked me for verifying it with them before making any decisions.

i usually don’t pick up calls from unknown numbers, especially ones starting with ‘020’. can’t really say for certain if it’s a scam or not. they rang me twice back-to-back, which is a typical trick to make you think it’s important or legit. not gonna be fooled by that. gonna mark it as ‘unknown’ since there’s no way to tell if it’s genuine or a prank.
