Got a call from a lady with a Lancashire accent, asking for my wife. She claimed we’d got some TV insurance back in 2018 that was a one-off payment. Offered a discount on the premium but warned of a cancellation charge if we wanted out. My wife was completely unaware of this and said we’ve never signed up for any TV insurance. The call was quite pushy and annoying. My wife ended up just hanging up on her. The woman said she was from Home Insure, but we’ve never dealt with them before. This happened around mid-July, and luckily I noted down the number she called from.

They rang my 85 year old mum today (18/6/20) twice, once at 8.44am and again at 9.39am. They were after money for some TV insurance she’s never had or wanted. When will these lot stop? It’s really scared her and upset her so much, she’s almost having another stroke, and she’s already had one plus a heart attack. With her dementia, I’m honestly worried these calls might do more harm than good. I’m scared I might lose her because these persistent people just won’t leave her alone.

Got a call from some tv insurance firm called Cover Team Direct. They said I needed to pay a cancellation charge or else accept their ‘special price’ cover. Then they told me because of the pandemic, they can’t send any paperwork. Honestly, never heard a lame excuse like that before!!!

10/06/20 my 82 yr old mother in law got a phone call about some TV insurance. The guy told her she paid £99 last year but could get it this year for £66. He also seemed to have bits of her card number.

It seems that there's a rather sneaky scam going around involving TV and satellite service warranties. They appear to be preying on the elderly, attempting to persuade them that they’ve entered into some sort of binding agreement. It's really quite concerning how they manipulate these folks into believing they owe something when, in reality, it’s all smoke and mirrors.

6/8/20 Got a call from a bloke who said his name was Michael Smith. He told my mum (in her eighties) that she needed to keep paying for her TV cover for another three years, a policy she began back in 2018. He also mentioned a £100 charge if she stopped paying. Claimed to be ringing from a firm based in Southend-on-sea. When I tried to call back about it, they got back to me from a 0203 number.

Received a call on my phone today, barely managed to catch a female voice asking if I was (my first name). I told her I could hardly make it out and she said she’d ring back - never did. Had a lady on the phone saying she was from a solicitor's office. She didn't even get a chance to say her bit. Ended up giving her a piece of my mind before slamming the phone down.
