finally picked up after being annoyed! It was some life insurance deal/comparison place. When I told them what i was already paying, they just hung up on me, real classy! If they legit, they seriously need to stop pestering folks with these calls. But if they’re scammers, everyone should defo report them and get them shut down!

They claimed they were from Aviva and needed my bank details to update my life insurance policy, which I don’t even have. Then they emailed me some papers to fill out. The strange part was they already knew my full name. Also, I’m pretty sure no genuine company would ask for bank info over the internet like that.

A bloke claimed he was calling for Oxfam. I'm really curious how he got my number - we're ex-directory and while I've donated loads to our nearby Oxfam shop, I've only ever shared my name and address with them, never my phone number. I’m guessing they must have bought a list of phone numbers from somewhere else.

So it turned out to be someone collecting for Oxfam, trying to get me to join a lottery to help send water and aid to Syria, which I said no to. They called me because I’d donated at my local shop before, but honestly, I found it annoying to get these sales calls as some kind of “thank you.” The fundraiser told me the whole campaign is costing Oxfam about £44,000, and they expect to make only around £130,000 over three years. To me, that just sounds like a bit of a pointless expense.
