On Thursday 9th January I got four calls from 02033897636. They said they were from HMRC and that there was a warrant out for my arrest. They told me to press 1 to talk to someone sorting it out. I hung up straight away, but it’s so annoying how they keep ringing me.

This number, 02033897636, called me twice this morning claiming to be from the Tax Office, saying they were issuing a warrant. They told me to press 1 to speak to an officer. When I rang back on the 02 number, I got an answerphone saying the bloke wasn't available and to leave my details - which I didn’t. Sounds dodgy to me.

I got one of those recorded calls claiming HMRC had put a lawsuit and arrest warrant out for me. Funny thing is, they didn’t even have my actual name right. Honestly, it’s just the same old rubbish phone scams happening who knows how many times daily. I normally get way more dodgy scam calls than real ones, like four times as many. About half a year back, I kept getting robo calls from 02033897636 claiming to be from HMRC. They said there was a case against me and threatened an arrest warrant, telling me to press 1 to speak to someone. I reported these calls to my phone company after nearly a dozen calls and thought it had stopped. Unfortunately, today alone I’ve got six of the same calls, and one even left a message on my answering machine! It’s definitely a scam, so don’t engage. Since I’m a bit hard of hearing, I asked them to speak clearer, but the bloke went on to ask if I was “dumb.” I shot back saying he’s got his words all wrong and maybe they should learn some manners before trying to con people. I chose not to pick up, but they proceeded to leave a rather alarming message claiming that there's a warrant out for my arrest and urging me to press 1 to connect with my officer. Today, 8th January 2020, my mum who’s 83 and myself have both had four calls each from this number. I kept telling my mum to completely ignore any voicemails and definitely not do what the caller tells her. If she does pick up, I told her to just put the phone down straight away. These days, scammers are getting cleverer, so it’s best to be cautious. If something doesn’t feel right or you think the person on the phone might be trying to scam you, just end the call. Make yourself a cuppa and then call back using a number you trust - usually from a recent bill or letter. That way, you’ll know you’re talking to the genuine company.
