As soon as the automated voice mentioned HMRC, I just tuned out - knew straight away it was a scam. Classic scammers, nothing new. They've been blocked now.

Said they had a warrant out for my arrest, but when I mentioned getting in touch with the fraud team, they quickly ended the call. Odd behaviour, if you ask me!

About two hours back, I got a call from this same number claiming to be from HMRC! Honestly, it’s pretty scary and I can totally see why some folks might get tricked by it.

I've grown quite accustomed to dodgy calls these days. If the number isn't familiar, I simply let the answering machine handle it. Before I bother returning any calls, I always take a moment to look the number up online first!

What a bunch of despicable rogues, threatening my elderly mother, who's 86, with legal repercussions if she didn't reveal her National Insurance number! Thankfully, she's savvy enough to disregard such intrusive calls, but not every frail elder has a family member keeping an eye out for them. This sort of scam really warrants a thorough investigation by the police. Truly appalling behaviour from these lowlives!

This cheeky old scam has been around forever, you'd think by now everyone - young or old, man or woman, no matter their background - would see right through it. Honestly, who’d fall for this rubbish nowadays?! Just can’t believe anyone’s taken it seriously!

I’ve received a rather peculiar recorded phone call purportedly from a senior chap, alleging that there’s an issue with my National Insurance number being frozen and insinuating a warrant for my arrest! They’ve attempted to get in touch twice today alone, although the number of missed calls on our landline has soared to at least ten now. Quite the nuisance, I must say!

I've been inundated with alarming calls over the last couple of days (11th and 12th October 2019). To put my mind at ease, I'd really appreciate some assurance that these are indeed just a load of nonsense.

I got a call from a guy’s voice, he said something quick I couldn’t really make out, then told me to press one. I didn’t do it, just ended the call.

Got a recorded call supposedly from HM Revenue & Customs saying my national insurance number had a warrant, and I had to hit one straight away. Didn’t fall for it, didn’t press anything.

Had two phone calls today claiming that I'm about to be arrested and urging me to press 1 for more details. Quite obviously a sham, masterminded by a bunch of fraudulent crooks.

So I got this call saying there’s an arrest warrant out for my National Insurance number. They told me to press 1 to speak. Yeah, no thanks, you scammers!

I got a call earlier today from someone saying they were from HMRC, warning me I could be arrested for tax evasion. They demanded I pay up immediately over the phone! Seems like this scam is getting pretty common now and is mostly going after elderly folks.

No way that was the Inland Revenue, total scam. They called, asked for my national insurance number, then started going on about me being arrested or something mad like that!

Yet another irritating call promising all sorts of dreadful outcomes. Seems like I’m inundated with these sorts of calls lately. Best to simply tell them to “Jog on” and cut the line.

That number up top kept calling, asking for my National Insurance number, then telling me to press 1. Proper harassing, honestly.

I received two calls today from the same number, despite having it blocked. I've reported it to the police and informed the fraud squad as well. The caller started going on about being arrested in connection with HMRC and my National Insurance Number - I pressed option one and then promptly hung up! I contacted my phone provider to blacklist the number again and prevent any further calls. It's infuriating that these individuals aren't held responsible for the distress they cause, particularly to those who may be more susceptible. Truly frustrating! Anonymous
