Got a robocall pretending to be from HMRC. It’s been ringing us loads and sometimes it just stops talking halfway and drops the call, other times it goes on saying to “press 1 to speak to one of our agents”. Seriously, don’t press any buttons, just hang up straight away!!

Got a worried call from a mate about this number, said it was dodgy so I looked it up just to be sure. Turns out it’s definitely a scam and sadly my mate ended up giving her bank details. Told her to contact her bank’s fraud team immediately. BE CAREFUL, never share your bank info with anyone!!!

Got a call from this number saying there’s an issue with our taxes and HMRC are opening a case against us. Got a similar call yesterday but from another number. When I phoned back, someone with a strong accent said they were from HMRC. Definitely sounds like a scam. I’ve reported it to the Information Commissioner and suggest others do the same.

Could be a scam, but it’s hard to tell since they didn’t do the typical stuff to try and get your details. Got a recorded message from a woman saying there’s an issue with our taxes and HMRC needs to talk to us about our case worker. Problem is, we don’t have a case worker and no one here is self-employed or anything. Plus, if it was legit, I reckon they’d phone you directly instead of leaving an automated message like that, cos that’s how pretty much every government agency works.
