Definitely not HMRC calling. It’s one of those scam calls trying to trick you.

Got a recorded call saying HMRC are taking me to court for unpaid bills, and it asked me to hit some numbers on my phone.

I received a rather alarming voicemail sounding like it came from HMRC, claiming they were initiating legal action against me. The robot voice urged me to press 1 to talk to an officer handling my case. Out of curiosity, I checked the number using 1471, but fortunately, I didn't return the call. My colleagues at work advised me to look it up online first, which was immensely helpful! I can’t imagine how someone uninformed about these dodgy scams would react. Feeling a tad anxious about it all, though! What a restless night that turned out to be!

Like everyone else, I got a recorded call saying HMRC was going to take legal action and to press 1 to talk to anyone. I hit 1, but it just hung up on me. Tried calling again, no one answered, then it just dropped the call. Pretty suspicious if you ask me.

Got a robo call claiming to be from HMRC, telling me I’m being taken to court and to press 1 to talk to my case officer. Really scary at first but once you hang up, you realise it’s a scam. Honestly makes me worried about how someone older or more vulnerable could be totally freaked out by this rubbish. Definitely just ignore and report.

My mum is not only old but also legally blind. She was clever enough to end the call when they told her to press #1, but as she gets weaker, I'm worried how she'll handle this kind of stuff later on. Honestly, it really winds me up. I keep reporting all these scam calls through the TPS and on our unlisted landline, but these scoundrels always seem to be one step ahead of the law.

Just got another call, this time saying I'm being sued by hmrc, press one to talk to the case officer. How on earth are these scammers still able to ring up people and no one can track them down and lock them up? It's crazy that this stuff is still happening and they don’t face any real punishment nowadays.

Got a call from someone saying they were from HMRC, threatening me with court if I didn’t pay up. Don’t ever answer their automated messages asking to talk to a “claims officer” - it’s a total scam trying to steal your money and personal details. They even knew my last name and where I live, but as soon as I started asking questions, they just hung up. Honestly, it’s frightening to think what harm these crooks could do to older or more vulnerable folks. They really need to be caught and put away.

Got a call supposedly from HMRC and, feeling a bit daft, I hit 1 when prompted. That kicked off this insane, long winded scam trying to squeeze £487 out of me. They kept saying if I didn’t pay, I’d owe like £46,000, they’d freeze my bank card, take my driving licence away, and even said I’d get arrested and cuffed. The threats were ridiculous but it was only after a while that I realised it was definitely a con, then they just gave up on me.
