Since I never take calls from unknown numbers, I let it ring out. Figured it was probably just another scammer, those sorts of calls have been pretty common recently.

I got a call from this number and saw it flagged as a scam. I picked up just to find out what they were after and the bloke said I’d been in a car accident recently, which is rubbish. I told him his number showed up as dodgy and he just claimed it must be someone else in my house. He wasn’t paying attention to what I was saying at all, so I ended the call. Honestly, these scams need sorting out. I’m on the TPS, but it doesn’t seem to stop them at all.

Got a call from some woman claiming to be from the driver insurance bureau about a supposed car accident I was in. Thing is, I've never had any accident. When I told her that, she started asking loads of nosy questions trying to dig up info. I just told her to piss off nicely and ended the call.

Looks like these lot operate out of South Africa and Calcutta. They claim you've got cash coming from some old injury or accident. They stick to a script, asking about any incidents you’ve had, trying to make you feel at ease so you spill your personal info. Eventually, they’ll ask for your bank details or try to trick you into sending them money to "finalise" the payment. It’s a classic overpayment scam or a ploy to get cash upfront. Absolute con artists - just tell them to shove off!

The person on the other end didn't know my name at all and kept acting like I was the one ringing them about some made-up car crash.

They called mentioning some secondary thing related to a car crash, but then switched to saying it was about someone in my home. When I asked which address they meant, they said they didn’t have my address at all. Bit strange if you ask me.

When they call, say you got into an accident and now you can’t hear a thing, like totally tone deaf for life. Make up some wild injuries too. Then, if they ask for your bank info, just start rattling off nonsense numbers like “one two three… four five six… seven eight nine” to throw them off.
