It all started when I got a message saying I’d joined some 'smart video' service and would be charged, with instructions to text 'stop smart video' if I wanted out. I thought replying might be a trick to charge me more, so I just ignored and deleted the message. Months later, I noticed an extra £7.50 on my bill! I rang EE about it, and the woman I spoke to said the only way to properly cancel is by texting ‘STOP SMARTVIDEO’ to 80206. She also blocked my phone to stop any future sneaky charges. Don’t expect a refund though - these scammers are so clever at dodging laws, which is super frustrating since no one actually signs up for these in the first place!
