Got a call from some bloke claiming to be from my Marbles credit card company. He had loads of my info and asked me to punch in my card details on the keypad. He sounded really legit, and honestly, I almost fell for it. Can’t believe how close I came. I’ve reported it to Action Fraud now.

Caution, everyone! There’s a right dodgy character about, operating under the name Oscar. He’s nothing more than a fraudster targeting vulnerable older folks in a bid to siphon off their cash. It’s downright appalling! One has to wonder why the authorities aren’t taking action against this. Stay vigilant!

Got a call from 0203 290 8792, some guy called Oscar and his mates pretending to be from Visa. They rang my elderly parents who live near Chelmsford in Essex. Luckily, my parents aren’t gullible and saw through the scam straight away. When I called them back, they couldn’t even tell me where their UK office was meant to be or my parents’ last name. Got a call from someone named Jenny Williams claiming to be from Virgin Media saying my IP address was hacked or something. I said no way I’m letting them on my PC, then she handed me over to a guy called Charlie Martin. Both of them told me their ID numbers and said to ring 02032908792 to verify they were legit tech support. The accent sounded Indian to me. Definitely feels like a dodgy broadband scam!

Got a call from a guy named James, said he was from Sky and had an Indian accent. He claimed my internet got hacked by someone in California and asked for my ISP address, telling me to download some app. Luckily, my mate showed up just then, so I cut the chat short and asked him for his number. He gave me this one, which I won’t be ringing again, but wanted to look it up to see who he really was and report it if needed.

Got a call from someone named Rose Williams claiming to be with Virgin Media, saying they needed to update my ISP address. I was a bit suspicious so I asked for details, and she gave me her name again, plus a Virgin Media ID VM192720 and a Case Number 4251. She told me to ring technical support on 02032908792. The call actually came from 02088534559. Right off the bat, I thought it smelled like a scam since she didn’t even ask for my account name or any security info when I picked up.

I got a call from 02032908792, and the bloke said he was Oscar Smith from Virgin Media, telling me there was some dodgy stuff going on with my broadband. After he asked me a few things, I ended the call and rang Virgin Media myself. They told me the call wasn’t from them and everything was fine with my internet. Also, they mentioned loads of others had called in about the same scam today.

Got a call from some bloke named Oscar who reckoned our internet was slow because of malware, blaming it on our IP being public, not private. Seemed pretty persuasive at first. When I asked if he’d be asking any security questions, he said no and claimed he wasn’t even in our office. He suggested I ring 02032908792 on my mobile while he hung around on the landline to prove he was legit. I wasn’t convinced and hung up. Checked the number online and saw it was dodgy. Then, he rang me back a couple of minutes later asking if I’d called yet. I just hung up again.

I got a call from a person saying they were Sky tech support, telling me hackers had supposedly made my IP address public instead of keeping it private. They asked me to ring this number 02032908792 to check if they were genuine. I looked up my broadband on the MySky app and everything seemed fine with it. The phone number they actually called me from I found by dialling 1471, which turned out to be 01275 993 769.

Sounded like he had an Indian accent but the number he rang from was 0118 343 7236. Funny thing is, I got another call like this last week, just after I’d reported an issue to Sky’s helpdesk. Makes me wonder if Sky’s security might actually be compromised.

So, I got this phone call from some bloke called Oscar Smith, said he worked for Sky. He told me my broadband had been rubbish for a while and that he could sort it out. Gave me a number to ring back, something like 02032908792, and an ID, was IMP17023 or similar. He also mentioned some address, 160 Victoria Street, London SW1E 5LB. I wasn’t too sure about it all, so I just brushed him off. After reading the comments here, I'm glad I didn't get involved!

So this bloke called saying he was Oscar from Sky, claimed my IP address wasn’t secure or something. He started asking what devices I had hooked up online. I told him straight I'm with the fraud squad, hoping that’d put him off. Nope. He even gave me some Sky staff ID and told me to ring their number if I was suspicious. I told him I’d call the number I already knew, cheers. Then he tried to get me to phone a 0203 number, which I flat out refused. Ended with me telling him to take a hike.

Just got a ring from these fellas, sounded pretty legit at first. I work in IT so I caught on quick, but they knew just enough to make it seem like they were from SKY. Got a call earlier, the person was pretty pushy, claiming they'd cut off our internet if we didn’t share our IP address. Said they were from Sky, but that’s clearly not true. They gave us a number and ID to ring Sky to 'verify' them. Didn’t hand over any details at all. Totally a scam and I can see how some folks might fall for it. I received a call purporting to be from SKY, claiming my internet connection and speed were subpar. They suggested I use my mobile to resolve the issue. It struck me as highly suspicious, especially when they proceeded to state that my bank accounts were under threat of hacking. The conversation took a bizarre turn when they implored me to withdraw cash from my account and send it to someone in East London. Complete con! He told me his name was Charles Jefferson and gave some ID as SKY ID 8655. I told him if he was really from Sky, he wouldn’t be asking me to check stuff since they should have all the info already and be able to access my router themselves. When I asked for his phone number to verify his Sky status, he gave me this one - but none of Sky’s numbers start with anything other than 0333.
