Omg, this number ‭01233 236107‬ left me a voicemail saying there’s a warrant out for my arrest because of tax evasion and that post sent back to them was the wrong address, telling me to call that number to sort it out. Honestly, it really freaked me out, I wasn’t expecting to hear something like that on my answerphone. The message was an automated voice sounding American.

Received a rather dodgy call purporting to be from HMRC, threatening me with prosecution. They mentioned a case worker by the name of "Stella" or something similar, instructing me to ring her back without delay. I promptly ended the call and decided to disregard it. I hadn't received any prior messages from HMRC, nor had I anticipated such a call. The gentleman on the other end was rather brusque and spoke with a thick accent that made comprehension tricky. I chose to withhold any personal details and refrained from answering their inquiries. A quick search on the internet confirmed my suspicions; it turned out to be a scam. Initially, the call caused considerable anxiety, with ominous threats of police involvement and court proceedings looming over me!

Got a cold robotic call from someone saying they were ‘officer Sarah Wilson from HMRC’ telling me to ring back urgently on 020 3290 5214. The message warned ‘Do not ignore this, if you or your lawyer don’t get in touch, there will be legal action.’ Obviously, HMRC wouldn’t phone like that. I got a call the other day, no one picked up, then I heard this weird beep and some robot voice saying "bye." Didn’t bother calling back and just blocked the number straight away. After reading some stories here, I’m glad I didn’t answer. Seriously, what happened to all that data protection stuff, anti-harassment laws, and fraud prevention? A woman’s voice claimed it was from HM Revenue & Customs, saying it was urgent to ring that number straight away. This sort of call could really upset someone who’s vulnerable. I've reported it to: [email protected] like they asked. I reckon the police should monitor these numbers and shut them down quickly to investigate. It’s rare that a spam call number actually picks up, maybe they wanted to trick people into giving personal info.

What a horrendous day I've had! Just found out I’m in the firing line for a staggering £4,000 in unpaid taxes. With my mum battling through chemotherapy as it is, we truly have more than enough on our hands. It’s truly shocking how these individuals have access to our personal details; they even recognised my maiden name! I’m absolutely worn out. The anxiety from that phone call today was unbearable! It’s appalling how some people can be so vile. It feels like they’re deliberately targeting those of us who are already at our wits' end. Saying they’re from HMRC but it’s a total scam cos it’s a premium rate number, don’t bother ringing back. HMRC only send letters asking you to get in touch, they won’t be leaving automated calls like this on your phone.
