Some bloke rang me up, said I could get 40% off my 02 contract and that I’d get a couple of security texts from them shortly after. Sure enough, the messages came through from the same number 02 usually uses for their info texts, so it looked pretty legit. Still, I ended the call since it felt a bit dodgy. The guy spoke with a really strong Indian accent.

Had this bloke from India ring me about some deal, said I could get 40% more or something with O2. I just zoned out and kept saying "Sorry, can you say that again? Didn't quite hear you," just to put him off.

At one point he actually asked me to repeat the O2 number back to him. Seriously, don’t do that.

I got a call on my phone from a Helmsley area code in Yorkshire. I have no idea who it could be since I don't know anyone from that place. I decided not to pick up, and they never left a voicemail or anything.

This is definitely a scam. They’ll ask you for security codes from your O2 account, and it sounds really convincing because you get messages right from O2. They’ll try to trick you into giving out the info from those messages. Be careful, don’t hand over any codes or details!

BEWARE this is a total scam! Got a call claiming to be O2 offering me a 40% discount, but then they asked for my O2 security code - which you’re ALWAYS told never to share, not even with O2 reps. When I called them out on it, they just ended the call and kept bombarding me with messages trying to get the code again. Absolutely dodgy! Don’t fall for it.
