Got a call from this number earlier, and since the area code was from London, I figured it could be work related. I picked up and was met with a message saying I had to ring back HMRC or my lawyer, or else there’d be legal trouble. Got a call claiming to be from HMRC. When I asked if it was a scam, the woman said I was just wasting her time. Honestly, that made me laugh. So I phoned her back (to waste some more time) and started singing, and she just hung up. I called once more, and she told me my voice was terrible! What a nightmare! Ended up calling her 114 times. Got a scary voicemail from someone claiming to be HMRC. When I rang back, they said they were starting legal action over unpaid taxes and threatened 5-10 years in prison, plus freezing my assets soon. The big red flag was when they said somethin like 'HMRC think you’re trying to cheat them and might run away'. That was enough for me to hang up and look the number up online to check it was a scam. It’s pretty worrying stuff, especially if they manage to trick someone who’s more vulnerable into giving away private info they shouldn’t.

Sounds like scammers pretending to be HMRC. They even knew my name. Best to just hang up and not call back.

This number has rung me at least ten times but I never picked up. Sometimes they left threatening voicemail, other times just hang up. Cheers to everyone here, cos i checked the number and seen the comments. Got three calls from it today on my mobile and one on my home phone. COMPLETE SCAM! They just wont quit. Really wish they’d just stop bothering me.

On Friday, I got a call from someone talking with an American accent, telling me to ring HMRC and not to brush it off. I just decided to ignore it, thankfully!

Got a phone call AGAIN from this same number. Same story as what others said, a woman with an American accent saying she was from HMRC and threatening legal trouble, calling herself Claire Williams. Sounded really menacing but then out of nowhere she ended the call with "take care"! Mad!

Got a voicemail that sounded exactly like all the others. Funny thing is, I was actually speaking to HMRC on the phone earlier today, so I assumed it was them calling back. Turns out it wasn’t connected at all. I’ll just block the number now.

Got a voicemail from a woman with an American accent saying it was urgent, so I decided to block the number straight away.

Had the same scam call but this time they were after my mum who passed away in January, shes 95. The bloke claimed I was now liable for her unpaid taxes and said there was a court order against me plus a black mark on my passport and driving licence. He warned if I lost the court case the amount would multiply by four. I was driving back from holiday when I received the call and it really upset me. I phoned my solicitor afterwards and they said it probably was a scam... before that, I genuinely thought it was legit.

Got a robotic call saying it was HMRC. Some American woman named Claire Williams said I had to ring a certain number or have my lawyer do it. They said it was "time sensitive". But since I’m aware HMRC only contacts folks through letters, I knew straight away it was a scam. If I hadn’t known that, the call would have been really scary and stressfull.

Got a call from an automated voice about something urgent from HMRC. When I picked up, it was just a recorded message. I was starting to think it might actually be legit until I read through these comments, now I’m sure it’s a scam. Good to see others have posted similar experiences!

Got a call from this number with a recorded message from someone saying she was Officer Claire Williams and that it was urgent. Sounded like a total scam to me, really creeped me out. No way I’m calling back!

Yesterday, I got a call from a bloke with a South East Asian accent who claimed my passport and credit cards were about to be frozen because of a £7,000 underpayment and that I owed £25,000 in total. I let him carry on, and then he asked me what I planned to do. I told him I’d ring HMRC using one of their proper official numbers. I’m definitely going to report this to HMRC since pretending to be them is outright fraud.

It seems like a scam to me. They say it’s urgent and want you or your solicitor to ring them back, warning you not to ignore the call. Then oddly, they end with “take care”? I definitely wouldn’t be returning that call.

Got a call from some robot with an American accent claiming to be Claire Williams, telling me to ring a number at HMRC about some unpaid tax. It’s ridiculous how these scammers keep going. Seriously, the government should step in and put a stop to it - loads of folks will get caught out and scammed if they don’t.

I got a call from some daft American woman pretending to be from hmrc. When she asked for my name, I gave her a ridiculous one - ### puller. She ended the call straight away after that. Honestly, I enjoy winding up these scammers and keeping them chatting with me as long as possible, just feeding them nonsense.

Glad to see loads of folks have flagged this number. The caller’s voice kept glitching like that old Norman Collier sketch (a bit of a blast from the past for some!). I couldn’t help but laugh when they started banging on about legal trouble and all that nonsense. Best to just ignore calls like this. HMRC doesn’t ring you up, especially not with robotic messages threatening court or whatever.

Got a voicemail from someone calling themselves Clair Willson with an American accent, saying it was urgent and that it was from HMRC. Never had HMRC ring me before, they always send letters. I think I’ll just wait for the letter like usual. Blocking the number now.

I saw that this number rang me but I didn’t answer it nor did it leave any voicemail. Reading through the other comments here, it looks like a scam, probably someone trying to pose as HMRC. Best to stay clear of it. I would just block and remove it straightaway.

For the past week, I’ve had these calls coming through, with two messages left - one from a so-called Officer Sarah Wilson and another from someone named Officer Claire Williams. Obviously a total scam, but honestly, it’s a bit amusing. The best bit was when they warned me about "legal action", and then out of the blue told me to "take care". Surely, some genuine police force should be on the lookout to catch these idiots?
