Yesterday I got a similar call, they left a voicemail on my answerphone. The number didn’t match any official contact I’ve seen for hmr. Since I was online sorting my tax stuff just the day before, I’m not sure if it’s related or just chance. Either way, I’m just gonna ignore it.

Today (9th July 2018) at around 10:43, I got a phone call with a recorded message claiming to be from HMRC. The message said I was being investigated for tax evasion or avoidance and that I or my solicitor needed to ring 020 3289 6711. I didn’t bother calling back because it’s clearly a scam.

Got a call around 10 in the morning on the 9th of July from 0203 289 6711. It was supposedly from HMRC about some tax fraud issue. The voice was automated, deep and had a strange accent, which didn't sound very genuine. Still, I reckon it might scare a few into ringing back.

I got a recorded message saying it was from HMRC, telling me there was some sort of tax case - maybe tax evasion? - filed against me. Seemed really dodgy to me.

I got a robo-call where some recorded voice said I had to call HMRC straight away about an issue, without even using my actual name. Felt like a dodgy scam trying to trick people into panicking. This kind of thing is super risky, especially if someone actually believes it. If you’re ever stressed from a call like this, don’t ring the number they give - look up the legit HMRC number yourself and call that instead.
