Be wary of letting these individuals around your laptop; they’re nothing but charlatans looking to swindle you out of your cash. Seriously, keep them away from your device! I’ve been trying to trace these cowboys to pinpoint where they’re based and how I could track them down. If anyone has any leads or an address, please do share it with me. It'd be much appreciated!

I've run into the very same predicament as others have shared here. My brand-new laptop has been incapacitated thanks to these individuals. I'm curious, what measures are being taken by the police or cybercrime investigators to track down these online criminals? They're really no better than hackers, considering they extort money or ruin your devices.

I had a similar experience myself. Regrettably, I ended up sending him some money, but fortunately, my bank decided not to release the funds. I consider myself quite lucky in that regard.

I received a call whilst I was in the middle of setting up McAfee. The chap claimed to be Joseph from McAfee support, saying he’d noticed I was having difficulties with the installation. As soon as I heard that, I sensed something was off, recalling a similar scenario I experienced last year regarding my daughter's laptop. I quickly looked up the number he was ringing from while he continued his spiel and discovered a whole load of warnings about this very number. Without wasting another moment, I hung up, blocked the number, and switched off my laptop. Just wanted to share this so others can steer clear of getting scammed! Cheers, Sarah 😊

Today, I received a phone call from a chap named Joseph, who claims to be from McAfee. I was in the midst of trying to activate my McAfee security software when an online help screen popped up, and my phone started ringing. He offered me three different pricing options, with the most expensive being a whopping £199 for lifetime protection against trojans. My instincts were raised immediately, so I requested that he call me back in five minutes after I’d consulted another source. Naturally, he never did ring me again, and now I've got to get my brand new laptop examined because I'm left uncertain about what he might have done. This experience has put me off McAfee for good; I can’t help but feel the whole thing was a scam.

Today, I received a call from a chap named Joseph Smith, claiming to be from McAfee, just as I was attempting to activate my security software. Oddly enough, as a help screen popped up on my computer, my phone rang almost instantly. This bloke proceeded to mention three different pricing options, with the most expensive being an eye-watering £199 for eternal protection against pesky trojans. Feeling quite uneasy about the whole situation, I asked him to touch base with me again in five minutes after I had a word with someone else. Lo and behold, he never got back to me! Now, I'm left in the lurch, wondering if my shiny new laptop has been compromised. Honestly, it's made me rethink my decision to use McAfee; I suspect something's not quite right with their service.

This is definitely a phishing con! When you attempt to activate McAfee, they intervene and claim you need help. Then, they ring you up and insist that you've got a Trojan virus lurking about, which they say will set you back £49.99 for the cleanup, and between £150 and £500 for a firewall. It's all a complete rip-off, no doubt about it!

Can I block this number somehow? These blokes pulled the same stunt with me. I was in the process of activating my McAfee antivirus when suddenly, a live chat popped up. An Indian chap named 'Joseph' claimed that I had a trojan virus and that all my devices were compromised, demanding about £140 for a fix. I became quite wary as it struck me straight away that something wasn’t right. My big concern now is whether they’ve managed to mess with my computer since it’s brand new!

I attempted to access my antivirus subscription today by visiting the McAfee website, but unfortunately, I couldn't get the installation to work. Out of the blue, a live chat support feature popped up, and I ended up having a conversation with an Indian gentleman over the phone. To my astonishment, he quoted me £90 for repairs, claiming that my system had contracted a Trojan horse virus and that all the devices in my home were compromised. It rang alarm bells in my head, and I decided to end the chat. However, things took a turn for the worse; my laptop suddenly went haywire, and now I can't even get it to boot up. It's completely knackered!

Could anyone confirm the identity of the individual who asserts they work for McAfee? I'd appreciate any verification on this matter.
