I've been getting loads of calls claiming there's a special discount on media services due to some O2 and Virgin Media merger. It's clearly some scam where they're fishing for my contract info and bank details. I checked with O2 and they told me the callers aren’t connected to them at all. They suggested I just block any more calls from these numbers.

Someone rang me saying they could merge my O2 and Virgin Mobile accounts to boost my internet speed. They asked to speak to a manager who then wanted my login details to check my identity. I told them I was with the Cambridgeshire police and that the call was being recorded for further investigation. They didn’t give up straight away but ended the call after a bit. From what I know, you should never share personal info unless you’ve phoned a legitimate number yourself - this definitely seemed like a scam.
