He mentioned he would ring back around lunchtime. In response, we reached out to Lloyds’ Fraud Office directly and returned to the bank, where we had a word with the manager. We ended up depositing £3000 instead and subsequently provided a statement to the police. This same fellow did indeed call back, maintaining that his call was legitimate. However, the bank clearly stated that they would NEVER reach out to customers and advise them to withdraw cash.
