Today my 84 year old sister received a call and they left a voicemail for her husband. When she returned the call, a guy named Martin Taylor said he was from Nationwide and claimed they had stopped some fraudulent activity on her account the night before. My sister didn’t feel right about it and ended the call straight away. Later, she rang Nationwide directly but got stuck when they asked for her account details, which she was too nervous to share. She’s feeling quite shaken up but plans to visit the bank branch in person tomorrow.

Recently, my 86-year-old mother received a rather alarming phone call from individuals claiming to represent the fraud squad. They insisted that someone had attempted to withdraw money from her bank account - despite the fact that we live all the way up in Scotland, not London. To make matters worse, they rang again, now masquerading as the Metropolitan Police. We've taken the precaution of reporting this to her bank, and they're keeping a vigilant eye on her account. It’s truly unsettling for an elderly lady to go through such a distressing experience.

My elderly mum got a call from this number. Some bloke called Michael Ryan said she should call Martin Taylor on that same number because there was fraud on her account. He claimed he worked for the Met police. When he rang again, I picked up and asked where exactly he was calling from. He sounded annoyed but finally said Worthing High Street. I checked and there’s no police station there. We then contacted the bank and they confirmed there was no fraud and no officer would call like that. The bank said they’d get in touch if there was any problem. It really upset my mum.

I got a call from a bloke claiming to be Martin Taylor from the Lloyds Fraud Department, giving a London address and that number you mentioned. He told me someone in my local branch might be leaking my bank details and to pop into the bank to withdraw £3000, stressing not to mention a word to anyone. He said he’d ring back around lunchtime.
We double-checked with Lloyds Fraud Office, then went into the branch and spoke directly with the manager, deposited £3000, and have since made a statement to the police. The same man did ring again, pushing that it was a genuine call. The bank confirmed they would NEVER ask customers to take out cash over the phone like that, and the police are now fully involved.

Don't fall for this trick, never send them any money. Banks would never call and tell you to take money out and send it somewhere else. That's not how they deal with fraud at all. It's a total scam.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from HSBC. They told me to ring another number to deal with some fraud issue. But it seemed fishy because HSBC numbers don’t usually start with 020… quite suspicious if you ask me.
