Totally a rip-off, I didn’t even answer the call but somehow they managed to leave a voicemail. You can clearly hear in the background it’s those dodgy call centre scammers. Just so folks know, HMRC don’t ring you up like that. They’d always send a proper letter or if you use their online service, you’d get a message there, never a random call.

I got a call from someone claiming they wanted to renew insurance on my washing machine since the cover was nearly up. Thing is, I haven’t had it insured in over 10 years. As soon as I pointed that out, they just ended the call straight away. Looks like a total scam.

This is a total scam, one of the worst I've seen. They tricked my 92-year-old dad by pretending to be from Amazon Support. The con involved getting him to buy Amazon Gift Cards and then saying they'd fix the problem. After that, they convinced him to let them use remote access software like TeamViewer or UltraView to control his laptop. While doing that, they tried to steal personal info like bank details. Really need to warn others - these scammers are extremely dangerous.

I got a call from almost exactly the same 0203 number today, but I didn’t pick up. Later, a woman’s voice left a message saying something about a tax issue with me. I ended up deleting the voicemail before I could write down the number, but I’m pretty sure it was one of those scams.

My husband got one of those automated rings at his job, supposedly from HMRC, saying there's a criminal case for fraud against him. First it really freaked him out, but then he twigged it was dodgy since they never used his name. While he was chatting about it with mates at work, two others got the same calls. He put up a warning on the work intranet and loads more people came forward who’d also been called. Honestly, it’s really creepy and must be terrifying for anyone more vulnerable. I just hope these nasty scammers get what they deserve eventually.

I just received a robocall on my landline, claiming to be from HMRC, informing me that there’s a criminal charge associated with my name. Naturally, I called back and spoke to a chap who was quite difficult to comprehend. He asked me to repeat my phone number, saying “slowly, slowly” multiple times. When I provided my address, he insisted I speak at a snail’s pace as well. By this point, I started to get suspicious and pointed out that if he was truly with HMRC, he should already have this information. He then began to cough and sound quite off, so I told him I couldn’t make out what he was saying and asked him to have someone else contact me. Definitely a scam, right? Who should I inform about this? Would it be wise to reach out to HMRC directly?

I'm getting plastered with calls from this number on my work mobile every single day! It’s much like what everyone else is saying - some recorded message claiming that we’re under investigation and there's a criminal case being prepared against a certain individual? What a load of rubbish!

I had a go at ringing the number back, but it just rings and then hangs up. Last week, I actually spoke to someone from that number and asked them to stop pestering us at work and to take our info off their list, but it seems they’ve completely ignored that request!
