On the 11th of April, 2019, I got a call from this number. The person on the other end claimed that my internet security had been breached. I decided to look up the number and discovered it’s a scam. Thankfully, I refrained from sharing any personal details.

Absolutely terrifying! My poor mum was on the line with these con artists for ages - they even managed to talk her into downloading TeamViewer and entering codes on her laptop. I couldn’t believe it! As soon as I shouted that we were onto their little scheme, the bloke abruptly ended the call after two hours of her frustration. Now, I'm at a loss about how to get rid of the software they made her install since there's no obvious way to uninstall it. What's the next step? The chap claimed his name was John and sounded like he was based in India.

Here we go again! I've received a couple of phone calls today, 14th September 2018. One chap claimed he was called Peter Williams-quite the fitting name for someone who definitely speaks with a noticeable Asian accent. He was attempting to convince me he was from BT and that our internet security had been breached. What a right palaver!

I received a phone call from a chap named Stephen Watson-spoke with an Asian accent. It’s exactly like what others have noted here. When on earth will someone put an end to this number preying on unsuspecting individuals?

On the 19th of January, I received a phone call from a person claiming to be Britney Martin, reference number 9464, purporting to be affiliated with BT. She warned me that my internet would be disconnected within a couple of days due to numerous error messages. I quickly realised it was all a ruse and told her I had another engagement. She then requested that I ring her back on 02032866573. While I was in the midst of drafting this report, I was hit with yet another call from someone claiming to be from BT, insisting my broadband service was at risk of failing. Upon confronting him with my suspicion, he abruptly disconnected the call. Curiously, both individuals had distinctly Asian accents. Stay alert, everyone!

Got a call from a woman with a strong Asian accent who said her name was "Andrea Wilson" and claimed to be from BT. She told me my internet wasn’t secure and asked if I could check my computer or laptop. She kept saying it wasn’t a scam and insisted it was a genuine BT call. But then she couldn’t confirm my BT customer number. Honestly, why hasn’t BT done something about this yet? These dodgy calls have been happening for ages now.

Indeed, I’ve just received a call from the same number! I couldn’t help but tell the caller that if he wanted to pretend to be from BT, he'd best brush up on his English skills. I mean, even the folks at BT have a higher standard than that! Now that this number's on the list, it shouldn't be too tricky for someone to track it back to its source and catch those dodgy characters, shouldn’t it? Oh well, one can but hope!

I recently got a call from this number claiming my internet would be cut off for a week. They wanted to access my computer to check if I'd be impacted. I pretended I couldn't hear them well and asked for a callback number. It’s definitely a scam!

I recently received a call claiming to be from BT, and the individual on the other end, Jack Wilson, was using the number 02032877573. He started off by inquiring about my address and the name of the account holder, and then mentioned that they would verify their identity by providing a unique reference number that only I could access. I questioned the logic of this and pointed out that I ought to know this special number before I even considered engaging further. I flatly told him that without confirming who he really was, I wouldn't be logging into anything, and eventually hung up. He persisted with his lines, but I found the name Jack Wilson somewhat dubious, especially given his Asian accent. Best to steer clear of such calls!

I just had a rather alarming phone call from this number, claiming that our internet service is set to be cut off in the next couple of hours. I found it quite odd, especially as the voice didn't sound like someone from BT at all. When I inquired about a callback number, there were no security checks at all! The chap on the line, who introduced himself as Adam Smith, seemed a bit dodgy to me. It definitely raised my suspicions - without a doubt, it's a scam!

I had a call today from a lady who sounded like she had a foreign accent. She mentioned something about issues with my BT router and asked if I could access it at that very moment. I told her I was unable to do so, but if she could provide her information, I’d be happy to give her a call back later. She gave me the number listed above, claiming her name was Clara Watson and that her reference was CW 44418. Once the call ended, I promptly looked into the number.

Hello everyone, I just wanted to share my experience, which echoes what others have said here. I received a call from someone purporting to be from BT support, asserting that my internet service would be suspended for a lengthy period of three weeks. He introduced himself as Jack Wilson. When I asked him who my actual internet provider was, he stumbled and couldn’t provide an answer. It’s unbelievable how these scoundrels prey on those who might not be as savvy with tech. Best to steer clear of them entirely!

Received a call from what claimed to be BT, and when I mentioned my computer takes a good 15 minutes to boot up, I told them I'd get back in touch. I think I’ll carry on with this every time they ring, just to tie them up for a bit! It’s a shame, though; these callers are probably just trying to make a living, stuck reading from those dreadful scripts.

When I dialled back, I reached a bloke from BT amid a cacophony of background noise. He confirmed the name of the caller, yet something felt off. I recently got a phone call from someone who had an Asian accent claiming to be from BT, saying that my computer had been infected with a virus and was at risk. I challenged him on how I could verify his identity, and he promptly provided me with a staff number - BTBW2190 - and introduced himself as Peter Williams. He also mentioned I could reach his supervisor at 02032877573. A quick search online led me to a report about this exact scam, so I wisely chose not to return his call.

On the 14th of December, 2017, I received a rather dubious phone call from a chap with an Asian accent amidst a cacophony of chatter in the background. He claimed that our BT internet would be disconnected within two hours due to some supposed unwanted downloads. However, he assured me he could rectify the whole situation right away and establish a secure connection for us. He then prodded me to sit at my computer. I declined his offer, at which point he transferred me to a supervisor who reiterated the same old script. The supervisor, who introduced himself as Alex Wilson, provided the number 02032877573. He prompted me to press Ctrl+R on my computer and asked what I could see on the screen. Instead of complying, I opted to investigate the number instead. Once I informed him that I had done so and discovered it was a scam, he promptly cut the call.

Yesterday, my mum received a phone call, so I decided to take it. The bloke on the other end introduced himself as Max Dicosta and provided me with this number when I asked for details. He claimed to be calling from BT. After using 1471, I got the number 02397844432. I toyed with him for a while, pretending to be quite worried that someone might have got into our internet, especially given that neither I nor my mum actually use the internet. As soon as I mentioned that, he promptly hung up! My mum has had quite a few of these calls in the past, even though she doesn’t have an account with BT.

What a pity my husband wasn’t about when that dodgy call came through today! He usually enjoys toying with those chaps, keeping them chatting for what feels like forever just to burn their time. As for me, I simply can’t be bothered with all that!

I had a phone call today from a lady named Cynthia Parker who spoke with quite the Indian accent. I asked her for her number and decided to return the call, only to be greeted by a chap from the Philippines. He insisted he was representing BT Internet and claimed there were issues with my BT connection being compromised. The thing is, my internet is running perfectly fine, and I’ve got both a firewall and antivirus software in place. Quite the dodgy situation, if you ask me!

Someone saying he was from BT rang me with a similar tale. I received a rather peculiar call the other day from a fella named Alex Wilson, a name that certainly took me by surprise given that his accent was quite distinctly Asian. When I pressed him on how I was to verify that he was genuinely representing BT, he claimed to know my account number, yet he conveniently omitted to reveal it. I told him I’d reach out again when it suited me better, which may leave him twiddling his thumbs for a bit!

Got a call earlier today from a woman claiming her name was Danielle Burn, she’s from India, apparently. She wanted to get into our laptop remotely. While she was chatting away, I quickly looked up BT Openreach to check our connection and saw everything was perfectly fine. That’s when I decided to end the call. She kept pushing and had answers that seemed legit, it was clearly a well thought out con. If you ring 0203 2877573, someone picks up almost straight away which is a dead giveaway - normally you sit through loads of menus and options before reaching any real person!

I received a call from a chap named Marcus Dubrowski, claiming to represent BT. He mentioned that over the past fortnight, he'd received notifications from my router indicating that my computer had been compromised with malware. He asked if I could get on my computer to address the issue. I informed him that I was rather preoccupied at that moment and asked for a number to return his call. I had quite the experience today - when I pushed back, Eric turned incredibly impolite. I reached out to BT, and they verified that this is indeed a fraudulent scheme. I can relate to that experience. Just recently, I encountered a situation with a chap named Ryan Williamson. I recently received a rather curious call from someone who introduced himself as 'Marcus Debrosky'. He had a noticeable accent that wasn't quite British, and there was quite a bit of background racket on the line. Apparently, he was ringing to inform me about some sort of interference affecting my BT router. He mentioned that I would need to power it down and restart to resolve the issue. He promised to call back to provide further clarification and gave me a number to ring him on, along with his employee identification for BT. It was a rather intriguing conversation, prompting me to look for further confirmation of the situation, hence my visit to this site and its related discussions.

Since I couldn’t do that at the moment, we decided she’d ring back on Monday. Honestly, I’m not really looking forward to it!

Received a call from a bloke called Rooney Adam, sounds like a proper name. He said he was from BT and told me that 761 people were using our broadband! Don’t know how he got that info, made me chuckle honestly. Wanted me to let him take control of my computer which was an obvious con. This was the first time I’d had a call from that number, but another one (0230 967 9609) kept ringing me all week about the same thing. Pretty sure they’re linked because Mr Adam mentioned both numbers when we spoke.

I received a rather peculiar phone call from someone identifying himself as "John Barker". He spoke with what seemed like a foreign accent and was amidst the bustling noise of what I could only presume was a train station. He claimed there were issues with my internet service and insisted that he needed to block my IP address to fix some supposed interference. Sensing something was amiss, I asked if I could ring him back, to which he provided the number 0203 2877 573, but rather oddly, he requested that I only share this number with close family. When I queried him for a reference or case number, he was unable to provide one. To my astonishment, he had the nerve to call me back right after I ended the call, wanting to know why I hung up when I had assured him there were no problems at all!

Today, a chap named 'Eric' with a pronounced Asian accent contacted my father, claiming there were issues with his email and insisted he needed to turn it on so he could assist him. Thankfully, my father was indeed having some internet troubles, but I happened to be around to overhear the conversation and promptly researched the number.

Over the past couple of days, I've had three calls from someone claiming to be from BT’s Technical department at 81 Newgate Street using this number. They told me that foreign users were accessing my IP address and threatened to cut off my internet if I didn't let them fix it. They wanted me to open up netstat, showing some foreign IPs, then asked me to start Teamviewer. I ended the call straight away and called BT myself. This is definitely a scam - BT don’t make calls about technical problems like that.

Steer clear of these crooks! I’ve just had a call from someone claiming to be ‘Luke Wilson’-a rather peculiar name, especially coming from someone with a rather pronounced Asian intonation. We don’t even have a BT line; we're with Virgin Media! It’s clearly a ruse.

I received a call from a chap named Victor Smith purporting to be from the BT tech support team, claiming there was some odd activity occurring on my phone line. I received a rather dubious call from an unrecognised number, claiming to be from BT's technical support team. The chap, who introduced himself as "Bryland Martin," warned me that my internet service would be cut off for the following month. When I asked for a callback number, he provided me with one. Curious, I rang back using another device and was greeted by a gentleman with an Indian accent, who said he was "Alex," a senior manager at BT. Honestly, it felt like a proper con.

Got a call the other day on a different line from a bloke with a thick Indian accent, and you could hear loads of noise like a busy call centre in the background. He claimed to be from BT Openreach and said there was an issue with my internet connection. I wasn’t buying it, and he told me to ring BT Openreach's customer care on a number he gave, introducing himself as Eric Wilson. I decided not to bother calling back.

I had an interesting encounter with a certain chap named Max Dicosta-although I suspect that’s not his real name. He called me with a noticeable Asian accent, peddling the same old drivel about my supposedly compromised modem. I took note of his name and number, and surprise, surprise - they matched up precisely. It’s baffling why BT allows this kind of nonsense to persist. But then again, every time these calls are made, it seems to line their pockets. Quite the racket, isn't it?

I hate to admit it, but I got tricked by this scam because my internet has been acting up and I don’t really understand much about tech stuff. Lost £3500 because of it. Now I’m just crossing my fingers that my bank will be able to get the cash back for me.

I received a call from someone named "John Wilson," who spoke with an Indian accent. He claimed to be part of the BT Technical Team and Openreach, saying there were issues with my router that suggested I was being hacked online. The thing is, we've been experiencing some internet hiccups lately, so I was quite tempted to believe him. He wanted me to get onto my computer, but I put my foot down and said no. He provided me with a number to ring back, but after seeing all these warnings, I thought better of it and decided against it.

I'm absolutely chuffed I decided to investigate. I received a call from someone claiming to be ‘Hazel Smith’, insisting there were issues with my BT line and asking if I could boot up my laptop so they could remote in and fix it. The individual who rang stated her name was Daisy. Quite an uncommon moniker for someone with such a strong accent that’s not quite British. I received a rather suspicious phone call from someone named "Eric," who had a strong Indian accent and claimed to be from BT. He informed me that there was an issue with my email and instructed me to press "Windows key"-R on my computer to resolve it. I was a bit sceptical and asked for a callback number, which he provided. After doing some quick research online, I realised it was a scam and confronted him about it. The moment I mentioned I knew it was fraudulent, he promptly ended the call without another word. I've received two calls from this number today. The chap on the other end, who called himself Joy, insisted that 17 people were connected to my line! He told me to give him a ring back and mentioned some BT ID number, 00659 to be precise. However, after checking my modem, it turns out I've only got two devices linked, both of which belong to me. Just like others have mentioned previously, BT has apparently dealt with this lot already.

I received a couple of calls from this number today. During the first one, a bloke asserted he was ringing from BT, claiming there’d been some unauthorised access to my internet connection. I was immediately sceptical and told him I didn’t trust him or believe he was genuinely from BT. He then provided me with a number, 020 328 77573, to call back, but I wasn’t interested in engaging with a blatant scammer so I hung up. Barely a moment had passed when he rang me again; I chose not to answer, and he didn’t leave any voicemail. Out of sheer curiosity, I decided to call the number back, and it was picked up by someone in what sounded like a call centre, who promptly proclaimed “BT”! I've since blocked this number.

I received a rather dubious call from someone claiming to be from the "BT Technical Team." They insisted I grant them access to my computer, alleging that they were detecting error messages from my router and that I was under a cyber attack. While I was on the line, I quickly did a search for the number they were calling from and that’s when I confronted the chap, "Daniel DeSouza," who sounded rather Asian, about his nonsense. Things escalated sharply - he got quite rude and started making threats, saying something along the lines of, "Right, I’ll terminate your internet connection forthwith, and then you’ll have to ring BT to sort it out, so you’d best pay attention." I didn’t take kindly to his intimidation tactics, so I reiterated that he was talking complete rubbish before he abruptly ended the call.

This number called me a few times over the last few days, about three times I think. A guy with an Indian accent said he was from BT and claimed someone was messing with my IP address. I received a rather peculiar phone call today from an Asian gentleman who inquired about the owner of the phone. When I pressed him for details, he claimed to be from British Telecom’s technical department and insisted that I needed to be near my computer due to an issue with my router. He introduced himself as Kev or Kevin, but the background noise was quite chaotic, reminiscent of a call centre environment. When I requested his contact number, he provided me with this one, prompting me to end the conversation as I had to dash off. It all felt a bit dodgy, especially since he didn’t even seem to know who he was ringing. This marks the second time in three weeks we’ve been targeted by someone purporting to be from "BT." The first incident was from a different number, where they ominously warned me that my router would be switched off within two hours. We reported that one to our service provider, and they promptly blocked the line.

I’ve just received another nuisance call, this time from someone claiming to be from BT. It’s the fourth time in a month I’ve been bothered by this same issue. They keep insisting that my system is riddled with computer viruses, or something to that effect. I’ve largely dismissed them in the past, seeing as I don’t even have a contract with BT. On this occasion, I decided to engage with them a bit more. After he failed to comprehend that my keyboard is a MAC and not MS, he mentioned he’d connect me to a specialist for MAC systems. I wasn’t having any of it and demanded the name and number of a senior manager to lodge my concerns. Unsurprisingly, he couldn’t provide a name but did give me the number 0203 2877 573, stating that he was James Wilson, a Junior Technician. I looked up the number and was greeted with a plethora of reports about similar scam calls. What on earth can we do to put a stop to this company?

Cheers to everyone who shared their experiences! Just had a rather dodgy call not long ago from someone claiming to work for BT, asking me to grant them remote access to my Mac via TeamViewer. I found the whole scenario a bit off, especially since we're actually with Sky. They tried to cover that by saying they rent equipment from my provider, which made me raise an eyebrow. Then they warned me that my internet would be cut off in a fortnight if they couldn't access my device to resolve an issue with the IP address. That seemed very far-fetched! I'm now planning to reach out to Sky to see if they’re aware of this scam. The number I was given to call back looked suspect as well, and like another commenter mentioned, I also had a chat with someone named Eric. My reference number was BT8625, which only added to my suspicions. Big thanks to everyone who posted their thoughts!

I received a call from a lady named Cynthia Parker, who had a distinct Asian accent, concerning a similar issue. I passed the number onto my wife and decided to reach out myself, being the account holder, yet I couldn’t shake off my suspicions. She insisted I needed to be in front of either a PC or a laptop to assist me in preventing unauthorised access to my router. At that moment, I informed her it wasn’t feasible for me to do so. Shortly after, she phoned back, introducing herself as Hazel, and I promptly requested to speak with Cynthia.
