Out of the blue, my computer screen was locked, and a warning message popped up advising me not to power down my device but to reach out to Microsoft security using the number provided. I felt a twinge of unease but decided to give them a ring. When I did, a chap named "David" answered my call and asked how he could assist me. His accent struck me as distinctly Indian, which made my suspicions flare. I thought, "David doesn’t typically signal an Asian background,” so I pressed him further. I asked for his full name, but all I got was “David.” Puzzled, I asked where he was located, and he claimed to be in London. I pointed out London is rather vast, so I inquired about his actual address. His response was still just “London,” coupled with a rather curt “Why do you want to know?” In a playful mimicry of his accent, I shot back that I was curious because he seemed to be trying to pull a fast one on me and rudely suggested he stop wasting my time before I hung up. I switched off my computer, rebooted it, updated my password, and set off on a quest to identify the origin of the issue. Hence, my words here... stay vigilant and don’t let yourself get conned!

I received a message claiming that my computer has been locked because my IP address has been compromised and that I shouldn’t shut down my device. However, after restarting, everything seems perfectly fine-clearly just a dodgy scam!

Got a sketchy message on my laptop running Windows 10, it was warning me not to turn off my PC and to call this phone number instead. Said it was Microsoft but the whole thing just froze my screen. I was stuck wondering if I should ring the number or just power down. The message claimed if I shut it off my computer would be at risk, proper scary crap. After reading a comment from earlier today, I reckon I probably did the right thing. Someone should let Microsoft know about this scam.

My Windows 10 laptop suddenly locked my keyboard and displayed a message saying I needed to call Microsoft on a certain phone number. When I dialled it, a person with a foreign accent answered but never said they were from Microsoft. Looking it up later online, I found out that people have reported scams connected to a number like this one. I wouldn’t trust that number at all - it seems really dodgy.

Complete nuisance! My computer got hijacked yesterday and guess what? It's happened again today. An incessant, droning voice keeps droning on about how my system's been compromised and warns me not to boot it up again-apparently, my identity's at stake! The only way to silence the bleedin’ thing is to restart the machine. Now I’m left wondering how to ensure this pesky bit of malware isn’t lurking about my system, or how to trace its origins. I’m suspicious it might be activated whenever I click on certain "news" links popping up on my home page. I ran all my security utilities yesterday, and they didn’t catch a single thing. Honestly, this is driving me up the wall!
