A man with a strange accent rang my 80-year-old mum, claiming she had £2500 waiting from a PPI claim. He said someone would turn up at her house at midday with the cheque, but she needed to pay a £99 admin fee over the phone first. Luckily, my mum rang me before going ahead, so I called them back. I made it very clear I knew it was a scam and demanded the company's name, saying if they were legit, I’d have no problem reporting them to the police. They then said their company was called "mother fcuker.com" and immediately hung up. So that was that, game over.

Somebody rang me claiming to be from the London county court, said they'd be sending someone over with a cheque for me. I'm pretty sure they were just after info, but I kept quiet and didn’t share anything. I suppose some folks might actually fall for this though.
